It seems after a long process a builder has been determined for this development.
Expect an announcement sometime soon. :)

Nice. Just wondering whether the Rundle Street carpark should be demolished (dismantled really) and replaced by a mixed use tower. Part of the carpark (couple of levels) would be underground, the rest above, then something like Conservatory to 18-20 levels.

Cheers

The carpark should of never been built, considering what it replaced

However the Rundle Convergence is going to improve that part of town and the most of the carpark is going to be completely blocked of by Crowne Plaza.

Exactly!.One of the worst losses to the city IMO. Can still remember it in all it's grandeur.(1970's).The car park is a disgusting replacement as far as architectural appeal is concerned. Practical only. Will Be VERY pleased to see southern side blocked out by no. 20 HSQ and the western side and most of the mothern side covered in the new lighting proposed.

not one of the worst loses, but THE WORST loss that has ever happened to our city  This new development will takeaway some of the sadness atleast. This is my fav design/render in Adl at the moment, on such a nice setting on the square. I actually like the commie block look. Begin!

Good pic but still does'nt do justice to the bldg. Much longer on Rundle side and the ground floor is mising - the part that usually contrass/complerments the upper floors to give balance. Also had a cantilever awning that fitted the style - a much bigger overall presence.

The corner has shades of 88 O'Connell St proposal. Smacks of high Victorian/italianate feel. (Check out the Shamrock in Bendigo).

It makes you almost want to cry thinking what that ugly car park replaced.

I always though this building was the Foy's & Gibsons department store???

Foy and Gibson's was one of the incarnations.

I knew it only as ETSA.in the 1970's. Pity we've lost so many departmet stores - this is another one. We had Miller Andersons In Hindley St, Moores in the court house next to the Hilton in VSQ, Cox Foys and John Martins in Rundle St as it was then - all gone.

Back to subject - anyone know the actual starting date of construction?
