Quite. Now that the vote has been run and won, let's do it properly. Not on the cheap, not with exorbitant cash giveaways to every Tom, Dick and Harry with a construction company, but properly, transparently and sensibly.

Look at the history of referendums in Australia.

The only places where 75% or more of the votes can be achieved in 'elections' are places like Zimbabwe, Syria and Cuba.

This outcome does NOT mean, SA is backwards or Adelaide is a country town. Just look at the results of the poll on this site, as a small snapshot of the wider SA community sentiment. The majority of people want it, it is just that we were left in the ridiculous situation where something so important was placed in the hands of so few.

It is sad, how quickly people forget the hundreds of developments happening in our city and state when presented with 1 negative outcome.

i would dispute that this pro-development at all costs site is indicative of the wider SA community sentiment but i agree that this outcome has nothing to do with whether SA is non-progressive or otherwise
