I would assume that if this hotel is to be of a higher rating, that the busstop would most likely be moved all together.

Yes, well, they don't frequent the bus stop because of the state of the building. As Dvious points out, they do so because the bus goes where they want to go.
But let's not discuss this in a construction news only forum.

Just drove past, 80's add on is completely gutted, just am ugly facade exists behind the scaffolding.
Other than that eyesore they have to deal with, I can't wait to see this building open.
I wonder how much original structure/fittings remain, I'd love to see an open day to wander around and view it all!

Interesting story on Watpac, builder of the Adelaide Airport carpark and plaza, and link to another of its developments in the refurbishment/ redevelopment of the Colonial Mutual Life building as the Mayfair Hotel.

If I remember correctly, that add on section on the south side was only built in the 80s. For something that recent, the concrete looks like it already needs a fair bit of repair work.

Went past on the weekend and noticed a lot of progress ad been made. The South Extension has been given an extra 3 levels. it's getting quite high in it's own right and i didn't expect it to beas high as it was. The inside was a flurry of activity as well.

Sorry if this is mildly off topic, but my curiousity has got the better of me, but...
Does anyone know what is being built/developed/created nearby on Gilbert Place? There is an awning-like structure over the top of the laneway that is attached to a nearby hotel, I do believe? I dunno, I figured this would be the best place to ask as it's geographically only 50 metres away.
I honestly thought it was just a pop-up structure built only for the Fringe Festival, however it's still there. Hahaha.

It's been like that for a short while. I thought they were creating a undervover canopy for guest drop off.
Seems to be taking a while though if that's all it is!
