Source?? My own eyes..
With the amount of acquisitions required there it seems like a tunnel could almost be cheaper.

Between Henley Beach and Sir Donald Bradman you have Thebarton Theatre, a bunch of houses, businesses, a couple of churches, a couple of unit blocks, and the Hilton Hotel.

The central section between the Superway and the Southern Expressway will have 'a design speed of 90kmh but a posted limit of 80kmh'.

Edit: just saw Norm answered the question already! I think 80kmh is good. It will up the flow without reducing capacity at any potential bottleneck, or also avoid creating any bottlenecks altogether.

Tunnel under Henley Beach Rd makes perfect sense. Look at what's around Henley Beach Rd: Thebarton Theatre, St George's College and any other nearby heritage. Plus the visual amenity of the area is quite valued, as Henley Beach Rd offers an entry point to the city for many visitors as well as serving as quite a nice vista corridor.

I just hope that any interchange at Sir Donald Bradman Drive is a sensible one; sensible in the sense that this will probably be the entry to both the CBD and the airport.

Some people might find this interesting, people living near the current works with the rail bridge are being put up in alternate accommodation because of all the noise.
Not sure if it's hotels/motels or houses being leased on a short term basis.

Given the speed that the grade separation of the railway line is being done here, it bodes well for Oaklands and other places to be done in an equally fast pace

I shouldn't be negative, but I'm praying that this structure won't result in a permanent snails pace speed restriction like what the trams have on a bridge over South Rd that was just built a few years ago

The latest from Nearmap. They've once more reduced the zoom level that's available on the free demo, so this is the best I could do.

Fortunately, part of the free area just encompasses the South Road/Grange Road intersection.

Imagery date: 24 November, 2016.

Edit: Here's the multiview. Top one is looking north, bottom one is looking south.

Looks like the second section was in place when I cycled along Port Road this morning - can anyone confirm?

In this shot, taken on the morning of the 11th of Jan 2017 the guys in high-viz are bolting the new (right-hand) span to the recently-installed eastern span.
One short span to go.

The new bridge has an interesting look from underneath. When the Grange and Outer Harbor trains start running again on 24 January 2017 are they going to be on this new bridge or on a temporary diversion track with a level crossing?
