The best news is that yes the design remains.

I look forward to some of these daring proposals actually coming up.

Looking forward to this!

And once it's above about 6 floors, I'll be able to watch it go up from my window! :)

This one will be really interesting to watch as it goes up. It will stand out a lot, given the location.

Kudos to Pruzinski & co. for having the courage to go one bigger and better!

Fantastic news! Yes, there will be cynicism about whether this actually gets built - we're all more than aware of the global economic problems - but it's worth noting that there's a reason most of these proposals are backed by Chinese developers. They don't need 70% precommit like locally funded projects (with the rare exception of the Kyren developments, which also seem to have proceeded on time due to self funding). I won't say more except to say that investing even at an expected loss can be quite rational when preserving capital becomes more of a focus than earning it.

What's actually really nice about this is that the Adelaide Now article in the 'related' section referred to yet another 160m+ tower announced in Melbourne today - and my interest and pride was much more in this Flinders St development. This proposal has the ability to really stand out and send all kinds of messages - especially that the space between it and the bulk of our talls is now 'open' for development on a similar scale.

Everytime I walk or drive past the site for this building I try to visualise what it will look like (obviously at the old height up til now!) and it's obvious it will be a significant change. To some extent, it will urbanise that part of the city in the way the lone Altitude tower (in all it's questionable design aesthetic) has done on the western side. Many views from the core CBD of what were just open view to the horizon were finally punctuated by visible development and this building can do the same thing albeit on a (happily) larger scale.

Can't wait to see the revised design - hopefully they can keep the overall shape of the original proposal just with more floors. Definitely looking forward to seeing it.

I think the floor plans will say a lot about the market acceptance of the building

I look forward to seeing it once it goes on market.

Wow, this is unbelievable, if this was a year ago, asking to INCREASE height would have been insanity. Thank god for the ease on height restrictions in the city.

fantastic news. Will really stand out.Hope it IS actually built. This with Palladio will radically alter the skyline. An amazing announcement in the face of recent economic news.

All these fantastic proposed developments are actually making me nervous in a funny way. Which ones will take off? I wish all, but we know that's not how that market works. Still, it's a good 'problem' to have. For the first time in my memory, Adelaide city actually has a competitive property development market! Though, for the record, I personally rate this one above all the others

I believe that now the state government has removed stamp duty from property purchases in the city
that these type of development are now viable.

I hate to dredge up a 'stale' thread with no news to offer, but has anyone heard anymore on the progress of this one?
