As expected, construction continues on this site today despite Kaufland pulling the pin.
Actually the building is being dismantled. Steel frame has been removed leaving just the precast walls propped up.
Yes I saw this over the weekend. Given the current situation, this site won’t change for a while.

Yes while i agree on the overall economy if it was more completed say a Woolworths [based on their explosion of sales/income] could consider the site/s.

The Prospect site needs to be something that works with Islington Railway Station.

Anyone know why? I mean you would think they would have more value being left up until at least they found a buyer? Or how likely is it they could be re-purposed elsewhere? Or could it be the tilt-up panel company taking them back if it hasn't been paid?

I’m guessing they wouldn’t be able to fill the space if they finished the building. In any case, all steelwork now gone and most concrete panels have also left site.

An empty concrete building would just become a magnet for vandalism and graffiti.

Proof is in the pudding - this one was already such a haven.

Are they are also removing the slab & foundations?

There were some excavators on site today, so I would say yes. Pretty sure slab was being ripped up.

The structure is all gone, and yes they are digging up the foundations/slab.
They should turn it into an apartment complex that goes over the train line, include a new train station/platform, and a multi level car park perhaps partly underground. Would encourage more people to use the train to get into the city.
Don't really need a supermarket as there's a few down the road at the Churchill centre, at Arndale and further up at Sefton Park. A few cafes and small specialty shops is all the retail needed. And throw in plenty of landscaping and a large public park/reserve.

Only if its sound proofed, there are freight trains, I have stayed at the Bridgeport in Murray Bridge and they are loud, might create movement too with the vibrations.

They'll probably recycle the panels along with the foundations they are ripping up now.

New apartment development for 71 Prospect Road.
Called The Harrington
https://theharrington.com.au
Looks nice for the area and has good street activation with some retail outlets.
