Calm down, it's not that dull. You forget that the building has no activity or lighting around it at this stage so you can't really measure what it will look like when people are using it.

In the context of the space it is in, I think it looks pretty good.

Its an airport hotel, it doesn't have to be the MGM Grand.

Function over style for any airport hotel.

Believe me or not, I am calm, and I do know that this building is not finished and so on… but I do not like patronising…
I am traveling a lot and I had a chance to see some very average, utilitarian buildings around the world and simply I think this airport deserve a better one, especially because the area around is a bit playful. That is my personal impression.
On the other hand, there is a very nice proverb - De gustibus (et coloribus) non est disputandum.

I think though that we could have done with something better than "Communist brutalist" style.

This is definitely not brutalism.

It's a better architectural result than the Parkroyal at Tullamarine in Melbourne.

Is that the hotel or the carpark?

I think this is a reasonable building. Noise considerations probably played a part in the design, in that balconies and large openings would not be appropriate. Yet it at least has good views.

I guess the brutalist style does have a bit more imagination. Perhaps it might be called "a box"?

Well, fortunately Adelaide Airport is close to the CBD, and people can vote with their feet. If they like the airport hotel, they'll stay there. If they don't, it's a 15 minute or less ride to plenty of other hotels.

It doesn't affect us locals.

It's not for visitors, or people staying in the city. It's for airlines to dump people when their flight is cancelled until the next day.

Pretty much, or for those that have a red eye and don't want to try and find a way to the airport at 3:00am
