[COM] Re: #Rejected: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 55m
Maybe I'm going colourblind, but the renders shown of this development show the building to be a light-blue colour. However this is a farce, as in the small print it is mentioned that the glass to be used in this building will be evergreen (dark green) and Austint green (light green). The window frames will be a natural silver colour, and the concrete will be an off-white colour.

Thanks Will, I quite like it
*fingers cross* it gets approved or they try and get major project status.

Thanks Will. Not too much difference interesting to see if it is approved.

There is a big red sign on the display office saying "Construction to commence in October 2007".
[COM] Re: #New Propoal: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 53m
It is lucky that the ACC when approving buildings take the height of the building as the height to the main roof, not the building's structural height.
In the up-dated version, the eastern tower has a height of 50m, whereas the western tower has a height of 53.5m to the top of main roof.
However the structural heights of both towers remains unchanged, as the eastern tower will still be 54m, and the western tower appears to have added an extra 2m, as it is now 57m.

[COM] Re: #New Proposal: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 53m
Why is there another DA up for public consultation on the ACC website today for this site? Back to 15 and 14 level buildings. Maybe they will try an get approval for the amended one tonight and then push for this new one again?
[COM] Re: #New Proposal: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 53m
As per page 8 in today's Advertiser, this tower was approved last night by the DAP
There's one more approval needed and then she's off. So October construction still looks very likely!
Hindmarsh square could be crane city this time next year with this and Conservatory, and potentially 20 Hindmarsh up and away!

Very happy to see this - the building still looks aesthetically above average.
As you guys have probably worked out I am big on architectural presentation and quality as it reflects so much about the city (as do height restictions - unfortunately).
How strange that this was accepted. Almost appears like a little exercise of being seen to try to do the right thing but coming across accepting of the proposal as there is little to stand on re the long term. Seems like a rite of passage in building in Adelaide. Hindmarsh Sq will give a very favorable impression in the near future. Hope the theatre site goes ahead - although the building design is rather bland and uninspiring at presernt. It will probably go through the same process as Aurora with a few alterations and then being approved.

Going through the minutes for the last DAP and found this interesting:
Wonder if this hadn't happened if it would have been rejected.Councillor J Brine declared an interest in this matter, pursuant to Section 56A (7) of
the Development Act, 1993, because of an article in the Sunday Mail dated
19 August 2007, withdrew her chair and left the room at 6.52pm.

I am thinking of property investment in Adelaide. Anyone know the price range of apartments in Auriora? (as per size, floor level? What better place for someone in the east - generall cheaper to get in over in Adelaide - but I suspect not for long! Also investing within the CBD attracts my attention.
