If my eyes did go wrong, the Adelaide bound platform and track are curved, right?

The cost is $7m.

And, yes, I have seen a 4 car Jumbo fit along the platform.

You are right, the UP line is on a curve but that is because the track centres north of Oaklands station towards the City is wider then on most other places on the system.

Like Mawson Lakes, the station platform is long enough to comfortably accomodate a 4 car train although (provided the driver lines up the doors precisely), a 5 car train can be squizzed in. Even though it has been done in the past, it is a real test of the driver's skill.

Laugh me if I made a stupid comment.

But I just feel funny about they are not fixing this section of track (to make it straight) before building a new platform, which is a long term structure.
I'm sure a straight platform can easier to made the gap with trains be minimised any point which is more wheelchair friendly, and more important for me, the visual quality!
This little curve looks dubious to me. (not sure if the word common or not, just got it from google :P)
Just hope it wont happen again anymore.

On the positive side, I really love the design of the shelter!

Thanks incrediably for those photos mate. Looks even better on the platform then from the ground. Great to see the back of the old dump that used to be there. And to think that things are (finally) going to get better from here too.

Just saw this tonight, whilst on the train subsitute bus (as services aren't operating from Adelaide to Brighton) and I gotta say, this station looks sexy as!
Love the orange, love the decor, love the uber-modernist image, its a sign of things to come :D

We will quite literally be going from the worst passenger rail network, to the nations best, and that is an achievement to be really proud of.

Welcome to South Australia, where we allow things to become so worn out we have to almost start again, but when we do it will become first class for a few years, then we will happily sit back and allow it to deteriote for the next 30 years.

Well the powers that be just need to maintain the stations a bit better, most of the public transport i used in Germany is all over 20-30 years old but it is well maintained, one of DeutscheBahn's train sets look like they're 40 years old on the exterior but inside they are new and well maintained even feels luxurious compared to the newer trains...most of their railway stations are over 100-180 years old (most of the major stations got re-built after WW2) but they are still modern and well cared for, which is what the SA government needs to do with their stations, Adelaide Railway Station is pretty awful, it feels cold and dirty and lacks that typical railway atmosphere (guards shouting "all aboard", flip boards and PA announcements...i don't kno..the usual railway stuff :P )

I think Oaklands and Mawson Lakes have set the standard for new Railway stations in Adelaide, just need some new trains to go with it

Here's hoping for a TWA Flight Center-esque redevelopment on all future stations!

There was a small opening ceremony today at noon which I, by a massive fluke, attended. Videos and pcs coming up.

I represented Sensational Adelaide and RailSA at the ceremony, as there was a woman with a guest list and she just noted my name down

Nice one mate! If I had a ticket that worked or money to get one, I would've been there too. Look forward to seeing the pics.

Apologies for the cut-off speech of the GM, my camera went a bit nuts for a bit so I had to switch to my mobile phone.

This was done by camera, but I didn't have my trusty tripod with me, so I again apologise.

Nice grab Mister Norman!
A couple of the pictures make me wonder if they will straighten out the 'wobble' around the former platform at some point?
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
