CONSTRUCTION work on what will become Adelaide’s tallest building will begin in the new year, after the state’s planning authority gave the project the green light.
The Development Assessment Commission on Wednesday approved the Kyren Group’s plan to build a 34-storey, 134m-high skyscraper at 11-27 Frome St.

FWIU the (shorter) student tower is stage one, so the taller tower may not start for some time (if at all).
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

There is an article on ABC to say shorter tower complete in 2018 and taller 2019 which would meant it would still have to start next year. I imagine after May when the business move out.monotonehell wrote:FWIU the (shorter) student tower is stage one, so the taller tower may not start for some time (if at all).

That sounds pretty sensible. The taller tower represents a lot of apartments needing to be sold, no easy feat considering there is 10 or so other projects in the CBD all vying for the apartment dollar. Not to mention that off the plan apartments are kinda on the nose lately (more so in Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne though). Kudos to the developer though if they are willing to build early and try to sell on the run. Here's hoping anyway.monotonehell wrote:FWIU the (shorter) student tower is stage one, so the taller tower may not start for some time (if at all).

I made the mistake of reading the AdelaideNow comments. I mean, some people need a good dose of Nebantul.

And not forgetting Barrie. Comments written from the armchair while watching the telly and reminiscing about the good old days.crawf wrote:Where's Rosemary?. I love seeing her positive input.

My favorite is Eric with his 'why not just employ someone to walk in front of cars with a red flag' joke. That belter of a gag just never grows old, despite how often he uses it.

Geeeez the potential for 2 new tallest within a year after almost 30 years. Calm your farm Adelaide just calm your farm!!
Direct flights to/from China, The new Adelaide oval, Convention Centre - 3 stages, the "festive season" and mad March, tour down under, new medical precinct etc are all contributing towards the rapid increase in Hotel developments and proposals in Adelaide over the last few years. Still hard to comprehend why so many are interested in opening business here all of a sudden. They obviously are do their homework so there is a demand which is great.
Will be interesting to see who gets this build, I'll have a punt and say Lend Lease

Will they be selling the serviced apartments to individual investors? If not, then two third of the main tower have to be financed differently and selling regular apartments becomes less of an important requirement.Jaymz wrote:That sounds pretty sensible. Kyren don't usually go into projects they aren't going to complete so I'm pretty confident that this will happen.
