Samaras' argument is all over the shop, why would anyone rule in his favour? The initial reason for opposing this, if you recall, was because he wanted a heritage listing placed on the building.

Unpopular opinion here - I don’t think the towers together compliment each other and believe each would look better without the other within spitting distance.
On that basis, I actually wouldn’t mind if this never got built.

I agree also, and when looking at that picture you really get a feel for how boring both designs are which begs the question, why are are the DAC not pushing for more striking designs in their processes.citywatcher wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 9:02 pmI quite agree with youarki wrote:Unpopular opinion here - I don’t think the towers together compliment each other and believe each would look better without the other within spitting distance.

Because their role is only to approve what the development plan requires. We need to update that plan with more explicit design objectives and assign a stronger role for the government architect/design review process.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 11:47 pmI agree also, and when looking at that picture you really get a feel for how boring both designs are which begs the question, why are are the DAC not pushing for more striking designs in their processes.

Adelaidean tower developer Theo Samaras launches Supreme Court appeal over neighbouring GSA Australia student tower

The developer of what will be Adelaide’s tallest building is pushing ahead with efforts to delay construction of a neighbouring student tower.
Theo Samaras, who is building the 135m-tall Adelaidean tower on Frome Street, has lodged a Supreme Court appeal against the approval of Global Student Accommodation Australia’s 118m-tall property on North Tce.
The appeal, listed for a hearing on Wednesday, comes after Mr Samaras lost a challenge against the project in the Environment Court and Development Court in August.
Mr Samaras had launched that action claiming the public should have had a say on the design of the rival tower which the state’s planning authority approved in April.
ERD Court Judge Susanne Cole rejected the challenge saying the GSA Australia project had been properly classified as a Category 1 development and did not require public notification.
The $60 million student building would partially obscure northern views from the Adelaidean, once built.
The Advertiser attempted to contact Mr Samaras for comment about his appeal.
GSA Australia has started demolition of the existing 1950s First Church of Christ Scientist Building, which will make way for the 680-bed student building.
The student building had been criticised by the associate government architect who raised concerns that the building did not fit the character of North Adelaide.

I only want this building to move so our new talls are more spread out. Problem this is what this developer bloke wants.

'Doesn't fit the character of North Terrace'? Don't look at the MyBudget building or others close by around there, then.

What is Samaras complaining about? This student tower will be nothing special but it will be way better than the eyesore Dwell he built next door.
Cheers

Look at North terrace as a wholeChillyPhilly wrote:'Doesn't fit the character of North Terrace'? Don't look at the MyBudget building or others close by around there, then.
Also there is no need to add to any of the eyesores among them

Heavy machinery on site now. I'd say the building will be gone in a few days.
