A new image of Spark. I find it strange that a complete render of the building has never been released. This image appears to be from the recreation deck on the 7th floor looking north towards the higher elements of the tower.

gee, I wouldn't mind being an international student staying there, even if the building as a whole looks a bit bland

That render does seem very 1960s, to me anyway. I dunno why but it does. Still doesn't hide the fact that it is a moudly cheese cake of a building.

How amusing that the best view of Spark is one on top of it, so you can't see the dire exterior.

personally I subscribe to the view that this building represents somewhat bland-ish urban infill injecting some much needed density into the west end, rather than jumping on the 'architectural abomination' hysteria that this thing seems to generate, lol.
Anyway there happens to be a full render albeit in low res on the website for those (few) interested:

I like it's contribution to density as well but it really is a disgusting mound of crud. It's got that full on '80s Adelaide look, even the colour screams State Bank/Myer Centre era.

Ok, it's not that great, but at the same time it's not that bad. once the balconies etc are installed it'll break up some of the brutal facade.

It's ok.

And you're just realising this now? It's like their baby was born and now its a mouldy cheesecake.

Just never thought it was worth commenting on until getting caught in a wave of late night boredom. The colour and blockiness put me off from the start but I didn't know about this forum then.

I should have said Spark has a Hyatt/Myer Centre look instead of State Bank. I actually love the Westpac building, it's been saving our skyline from embarrassment for 20 years and is a nice, clean example of design from that period. We could've ended up with something so much worse. The mid-80's, urghhh.

Aren't those recessed balconies with glass balustrades on Victoria Street?

Cheers

They could have at least made an effort with the facade..terrible... I wouldn't mind the building otherwise..

I meant more so from a southern aspect, the side facing Hindley street. There's still a few more features to come.

It appears that the crane for this one either came down today or will be coming down tomorrow. They had Hindley Street blocked off today with a transportable crane located in front of the site.
