And in other other news, I hear rumours of a pizza shop run by the Red Door guys and a boutique wine bar called Croydon Social opening on Elizabeth (aka Queen) Street in Croydon. Good thing I love both pizza and wine...

Not sure if they're two separate entities or one and the same thing at the moment. Also not sure how the liquor licensing works in Charles Sturt - can a small bar open, or will it have to be a cafe which also sells alcohol with food?

Either way it's an exciting development for this strip - somewhere to get food in the evening and somewhere to enjoy a cheeky drink on the weekend.

I think so - although there are also the other two vacant shops slightly further north which also have been extended and seem to be undergoing a (veerrryy slow) refit. Not quite sure what the plans for those are. Would be great to see this little strip gain a couple more nice businesses - have always thought it was a shame everything shuts at 4pm so there's nobody there in the evenings.

Apparently the liquor licence application for Croydon Social has been posted in the window - I'll try to swing by tonight and find out more...

Croydon hub on Elizabeth (aka Queen) Street is a quirky gem.
It's close to the Bowden/Brompton renewal and interesting cafés etc springing up on the Port Road Strip in close proximity to the Ent Cent.
So, the time is right?

Used to pop into Let Them Eat next door for vegetarian goodies for a relative, but now go to their (expanded) eatery in the Central Market. Looks like it is doing well there.

Yep, took a look tonight and seems all of the former Let Them Eat premises is going to become the new Croydon Social. There's a pizza oven installed and a liquor licence application on the window - the only thing it really mentions is an extension on Sundays from 8pm to 10pm. Not sure what the core liquor licence hours are but at least it looks like this place will be open in the evenings. Great news. The applicant is listed as Egg Food Services - if this is the Red Door guys then the pizza should be amazing! There goes the new year diet...

The Griersons are adding this element (limited in scope?) to their expanding Red Door premises.

A previous media article about their new CBD eatery (3rd, after Goodwood) mentioned Norwood as a possible 4th? Interesting.

Good to see a locally owned business, with quality produce, prosper.

And good citizens too. Their website states they donate any excess food to OzHarvest "to feed the needy and reduce landfill".

Think about it. A $100b fund would deliver interest payments of $5b+ per year - forever. $400b fund would generate $20b+ of interest payments per year - forever.
