It's very...bright. Too much orange. Still, nice to see an investment there, and they've finally redirected rundlemall.com to their website (it had had an "under construction" notice for quite a long while).Howie wrote:ACC website got a revamp this year.. check it out

They have a market research survey running too so follow this link to give your opinion on the website changes.

Keep Adelaide Weird
Re: News from the ACC
it looks a lot like the electric buses I've seen in various cities in China. The bug antenna mirrors etc, the only difference I can see is that the electric buses in china have overhead power lines like our trams (minus the tracks).
Does this bus have a big TV inside too?

Nice to see they have included information on the streets, but not mad on the orange
Re: News from the ACC
Will or anyone else do you know when the next DAP meeting is? nothing is scheduled for this month...
Re: News from the ACC
There is always one DAP meeting at the end of January. I would expect this to be the case still. I would find it a bit strange if there was no meeting this January, as there is a lot to approve!Ben wrote:Will or anyone else do you know when the next DAP meeting is? nothing is scheduled for this month...

Paint the town green by 2010: Yarwood

Cr Stephen Yarwood wants City Council staff to investigate updating the city's development plan with a raft of environmental requirements.
GREEN roofs and other eco-friendly building ideas could be mandatory for new city buildings by 2010, if City Cr Stephen Yarwood has his way.
Cr Yarwood wants City Council staff to investigate updating the city's development plan with a raft of environmental requirements.
He wants to see ``enforceable'' minimum green performance ratings, which measure how a building operates such as whether it has sensor lighting not just how it is designed.
He has also suggested sweeteners for developers going green, such as extra height in exchange for improved design.
``If your building is six green stars, then you can build to `x' floors; if your building's seven stars, you can build to `x plus two','' Cr Yarwood said.
``We have to explore all possible mechanisms for development incentives.''
The issue is expected to be discussed at the council's first meeting for 2008 next Tuesday (January 29) and Cr
Yarwood is confident he has support from enough councillors to initiate a staff report into greening the development plan.
Cr Joe Cullen said councillors were keen to fast-track such measures into the development plan: ``Most of us are working together (on this), it's a no brainer.
``Everyone wants to do it, it's just a matter of how it gets done.''
Property Council SA executive director Nathan Paine however is not keen on mandatory green measures.
He said Adelaide already had many five green star buildings, with the government's six-star green building, VS1, nearing completing on Victoria Square and ``this is being done without mandatory requirements''.
He did support rate rebates for developers making existing buildings ``greener'' as there was no incentive for green fitouts, as the added value to a building ultimately meant a rate rise.
Council rates are based on rental value, and a greener building attracts higher rent.
Re: News from the ACC
One of the better suggestions proposed by a counsellor in ages!
If only this was around 7 years ago, towers like Horizon and Embassy could have been built at their original proposed height.

Embassy was never altered, however Horizon was originally proposed at 21 levels and 69m.aussie2000 wrote:what was the original?

Actually, I beg to differ. The very first original proposal for Embassy, prior to even the DA was for 28 levels. Will wrote:Embassy was never altered, however Horizon was originally proposed at 21 levels and 69m.aussie2000 wrote:what was the original?

But that one was never presented to the ACC.Pikey wrote:Actually, I beg to differ. However at 28 levels, that would have been huge, probably around 90m! There is no way such a proposal would have been approved back in 1999! surely not a serious proposal.
