The flight path issues relate to the helipad on top of the RAH and safe access for the helicopters. And please no one be stupid enough to suggest that they should build the helipad higher.

It would hardly be a stupid thing to suggest.
Like I said in my previous post, it was incredibly short-sighted (in a way that was perfectly forseeable at the time) to not make the RAH taller in the first place. If extra RAH levels had been built in the first place, to accommodate the demand for beds that existed even at that time, then the helipad would already be higher. The helipad on the old hospital was higher.
It would certainly be a much more preferable option to add extra levels to both the RAH and new Women's and Children's than to build on the parklands.
That said, I don't understand why there is not more consideration of building over the top of the rail lines, like they did for the Convention Centre, or using the triangle shaped island of land between the rail lines at the junction. That triangle is a large area of prime land in the middle of the city which has been completely wasted since the railway was first built.

The Gaol triangle should be reserved for constructing a future rail tunnel between the northern and southern lines. Why not locate it where the libs proposed that Riverbank Stadium. It could be built above the train lines, ambulance access could be from George street or Morphett Street and it could have a linking bridge to the N RAH. If they covered this entire area of the train line then they could section parts of it off to be garden spaces so that people in the hospitals would have easy and close access to nature. Would also mean the Womens and Childrens hospital is closer to existing public transport like the train station and existing tram stop. Proposing to built it out near the goal hosts a lot of future issues. Where do these people park, how do they access close public transport, where do they get their lunch if they want to go out. The tram stop isn't that far. How do people from the RAH use it everyday?
Where do people who use the RAH get their lunch if they don't want to eat at one of the eateries inside the RAH?
I believe they plan was to also expand the helipad at the RAH for use by the nWCH, which would then be a short 'sky bridge' walk away. Building it on the eastern side of the RAH wouldn't give it near direct access to the helipad.

If that's the case and the WCH ends up higher than then RAH can't they just build a new helipad on top of the WCH to service both buildings?
I obviously have no idea of the cost/logistics involved with this vs moving the whole planned building because of helipad-related height restrictions...

One thing that's glaringly absent from the nWCH proposal is public transport. The concepts released last year already have a conveniently-located overpass above the wide, straight rail corridor next to the nWCH, why not take advantage of it?
Anybody on the Belair, Seaford and Flinders lines coming to use the nWCH or RAH have to go all the way into Adelaide Station and transfer to the tram to double back. A station will cut the need to transfer services and will land southern train passengers right on the doorstep of the nWCH and the rest of the BioMed precinct, zero transfers needed.
Yes, the station would be barely 1km away from Adelaide Station, but it would make accessing the hospitals significantly more convenient and by happenstance, provide a direct rail connection between Flinders hospitals and the BioMed precinct. It would also encourage more southern commuters to use their nearest train station to get to the hospitals instead of driving all the way into the city.
Remember the age-old rule of public transport: if you make it easy and convenient to use, then people will use it.

Realistically I think you just can't get the Seaford and Belair platforms in there - the space is pretty tight and it would probably require closing Mile End Station. I think a better solution would be to only build new platforms on the Seaford/Flinders for the WCH - this would give roughly a train every 10 minutes towards ARS for transfers + connections south for the other rail lines. At the same time rebuild Mile End station (which needs it) to only have Belair tracks and upgrade it to DDA standards of course. You could also make use of the unused rail triangle and maybe (depending on space) a single line spur from the north that ends at nWCH (or really have some foresight and link it to Goodwood for the Showgrounds). If Adelaide gets an underground CBD railway, the plan for the tunnel entrance is that it will be in the gap between the university buildings to the north of the City West tram stop. It will be easiest if the stations are above ground because underground stations are incredibly expensive. Melbourne Metro's stations will cost $3.1 billion out of the $4.7 billion project (https://www.theage.com.au/national/vict ... 56dva.html).
So it will be costly to build an underground Adelaide Railway Station. Moving ARS to the RAH just before the tunnel will be the lowest cost solution (and therefore more likely to be built at all). Then the other CBD stations can be built from excavations in the squares.

Adelaide Railway Station is practically an underground station already! The problem with the current Adelaide Railway Station is that it can't be readily converted into a through running station. The current constraints of the existing station layout and surrounding properties mean that the current platforms can't be changed from a terminal layout. The creation of a new through running link at Adelaide Railway Station will need to come from bored underground tunnels and new platforms below North Terrace, with pedestrian connections to the existing station. Those new underground platforms can free up capacity at the existing terminal platforms for new services, potentially regional and long distance if some of the other access, track gauge and long term planning issues can be addressed.
