I thin this is exactly what they were trying to avoid. Covering it up would mean it is classified as a tunnel which comes with a whole new raft of design requirements (which the trench does not meet) - escape stairs, ventilation etc which equals large increase in construction costs.

Interestingly, the couple of meters' worth of opening between the two carriageways of Park Terrace is to break up the continuous length of covered trench to avoid the tunnel classification.

How difficult would it be to retrofit these items when the service is made electric and is therefore more suitable for a tunnel?

Gibson Street
The pedestrian crossing has been reinstated



This is the footpath on the Port Road side, running parallel to the rail line.



Looking north-west, you can see the original Bowden Station platform and the trench towards East Street

Park Terrace
Here is Bowden Station, it's progressing well. The brick render is there, the ramps are taking shape and the stairs are in place.







The tracks are still on Park Terrace



Some interesting fencing has also gone up next to the Park Terrace bridge

I'm assuming Mount Bowden means the overpass of the road over the Gawler train line....

10m "hill".

I thought it was those huge piles of dirt.
