Well like I said, hopefully as Ben has said, Sushi Train is just moving east up the road (into the building next door) Not sure about those other two thoughThe Scooter Guy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2017 10:09 pmThe windows of the former Lucky 7 on King William St which has been vacant since 2014 now have '50% Leased' stickers on.timtam20292 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2017 9:16 pmI have been told that Sushi Train on Grenfell Street is closing soon.
Sago Fresh (former Blue Lemon) has newspaper covering the doors.
So Cibo Espresso is likely to go too.
Could this mean something big is going to replace them all?

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Metalicus on Rundle Street closed on the weekend which is next to the vacant ex Marcs store. There is also a closing down sign on the Jeweler store just up from there. I think Rundle Street desperately needs developments like the Adelaidean and Realm to start - instant injection of around 400 workers and then you will have hotel guests and residents once complete. I think the next 12 -18 months will be tough for Rundle Street traders but once a few of these developments get up things will look much rosier.
In other news Jurlique is moving to the newly renovated peregrine building at 17 Rundle Mall. Swarovski is moving into their tenancy which will allow the redevelopment to get started of Rundle Mall Plaza.
Bossini has closed in the Myer centre which leaves that vacant, the former Lush tenancy, the former Aquila tenancy and the former Travel agency all empty on the western side of the ground floor. Management really need to consider a full reconfiguration not just paint and flooring.

To be fair, that jewellery store has had their 'closing down' signage up for well over a year now.Ben wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 8:57 amMetalicus on Rundle Street closed on the weekend which is next to the vacant ex Marcs store. Marcs and American Apparel closing obviously had nothing at all to do with Rundle St, and there's been a couple of closures where the company has also had stores in the mall (like Lorna Jane). Not saying there's not tough times in the the short term future of Rundle St, but I don't think it's as bad as it might look. Some of the landlords probably need to re-think what they're charging for rent.

The AFL Store has returned after a 6-Year Absence. It is located in the former Discount Vitamins Warehouse on King William St.
Bad news for comic book lovers!
After trading for a lot of years, Pulp Fiction Comics (next door to Colo 7) on King William St has fell victim to distrain as well as some other factors, a few of which I'd like to explain:
1. Being unable to compete with other comic stores including Greenlight Comics on Stephens Pl (just a short walk from here!). More Damage than Rectification indeed.
2. Threatening the copyright holders for the movie of the same name to sue thousands in damages! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/?ref_=ttco_co_tt

Always sad to see an established local business close down but if they couldn't cope with competition being in broadly the same geographical area then their business model can't have been too solid prior to the closure. Presumably Greenlight and the others offer something that Pulp Fiction didn't?The Scooter Guy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 4:03 pmBad news for comic book lovers!

Not necessarily retail but following on from the supposed travails of Rundle Street: the old Nova space has been leased to a "South Australian business in the creative industry" that will encourage visitation all days of the week. Maras Group is gun shy on announcing the identity of said business but apparently all will be revealed in coming weeks.

Here's an ad for Citi Centre Arcade from 1993.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Is another Bing Boy being shut down? The Myer Centre kiosk is hoarded and being deconstructed. Refurb or shut down?
Wendy's is making another venture into Rundle Place food court. This time a kiosk next to the new Cheese Tart kiosk.

The citi centre food court is now boarded up. Not sure what happened to the tenants that were complaining a few weeks back.
