There's a piling rig parked on the now cleared site at 64 South Terrace. Anyone have any info on what might be happening here?

So the rumour mill was correct - now publicly announced - Hassell architects plan to wind down their Adelaide office - greener fields and all that...

Doesn't do much for development confidence when an 80 year presence pulls the plug locally so they can concentrate on the big stuff elsewhere.

Hassell to close founding Adelaide office

'Hassell will close its office in Adelaide, the city where the architecture firm started in 1938, to focus on projects in urban centres that are on a larger scale that the South Australian capital can offer.'

Hi All,

Not sure of this is the right place to ask this but, Where can I find out how many apartment developments are still going up in Adelaide, approved or construction phase?

Also I am also curious how they are doing sale wise, before and after all the bad publicity about apartments for example the tower that burned down in uk, the towers that were cracking up in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne and the now the cladding report :secret: ...?

I would like to know how many are still for sale in the towers that have been built. The developers will say "oh ,year 80% sold from the plan before it's built.....yeah right.

So if anyone could please point me to a resource or the info, if you know of any.

Thanks.

The former Optus building on the corner of King William & Pultney is getting a fresh coat. Looked like they were changing from the faded mustard blending into off white, to just white.

When you say 'fresh coat'... I'm of the understanding that this building is a glazed cladding, please tell me they aren't painting it?

I hope it doesn't end up like the old AON centre on Pirie St, which been peeling since its original blue panels were painted a ubiquitous charcoal earlier this year. Ben took this photo in June and it has gotten much worse since then:

Yeah, I think that's been that way for a while. It's white at the bottom and becomes that yellow at the top, fading from one to the other midway up the building. Presumably you've seen them painting it?

Haven't seen them actually painting, hence my assumption it's a paint job instead of re-cladding.
There's some equipment on the roof with cables down the side, looks like the equipment they use for window cleaning with the box they stand/work in.
There's also scaffolding down the bottom around the entry.
