At least there's more glass, and it's done by a SA company unlike the City Central development.

City Central is being done by Woods Bagot, an Adelaide company.

But to be honest, I would rather our buildings be done by interstate or overseas firms, as judging by our recent spate of developments, our architects are stuck in the 1970s and 1980s.

Not all Adelaide Architect's are stuck in the 70's & 80's but unfortunately the big 3 establishment firms are. Our most interesting work is being done by small companies. Check out the entries in this years Architect's awards for proof.

The former artist's impression showed less glass.

I wasn't talking about the architects, but rather the companies installing the glass facades (including framework).

I think im getting confused as to which 1 is this new render...

I thought the bigger render on the last page was the old one ....and the smaller render is this new 1 that has just been announced or sumthng.......... but they both have been there since pgs 4 - 7 of this thread...

Yeah, you are right. My comment is primarily aimed at the big 3, which coincidentally get the big jobs which make an impact on the skyline.

The current one is the one that has the bland blue glass facade. (the bigger render)

Also the glass is already looking a lot better IMO. A rare case of when a building truns out better than its render perhaps...no, definitely. :)

I have to admit I've never seen so much carry on about an 11 storey building - I guess it's because of it's prominent location. VIC SQ. is startng to look quite impressive overall - especially when seen via Bill's photos. A pity the building was'nt 20 odd floors. Appears as though it will turn out OK. The square now needx filling in the SW corner - not much chance there though. I gather there is more to come on the NW corner yet however.

I really appreciate all the photos you guys take. Sorry I can't contribute much in this realm from Brisbane. : :( (

Can't wait to get back and see all this. :D :D

ADELAIDE - TOWARDS A GREATER CBD SKYLINE.
Jack.

Well, hot diggity damn. That's coming up real fine, loving the blue glass it really is making its mark on vic sqaure. I love the contrast of old vs new with the church, and it fits so well with the comm law courts.
