Adelaide. The city of car parks.
Wont be long before Marion heads that direction, especially once this new State Aquatic Centre is open.

If I didn't like any of the existing/new carparks, would the ACC be able to build a new one just for me ?
Or is it too much work to change the dies on the carpark making machine ?

Sorry I haven't been following this one but I just saw it today and I have to ask: Is this being built down near marion?
If it is I'm so heartbroken, love the development but hate the location. Some where near the CBD would have made so much more sense, how tragic is it that it's being built down there!

Yep, it's being built between Oaklands Park railway station and Marion Shopping Centre.
Plenty of people live south of the CBD, and the State Aquatic Centre will be a boon for them (us).

After seeing photos of the wave pool up in Darwin I not that disappointed that we are not
going to get one as part of this development.
The one in Darwin looks amateur. I can't believe how small the waves are.

Well, the people living north had a reasonable turn with the current north adelaide aquatic centre, don't you reckon?

They do matter, and so do the people in the south, and the Adelaide Aquatic Centre is available for those north and central. So everyone gets a swim.

By the way, construction activities are picking up on site. The construction office huts are in place now, some heavy machinery is now located on site and a driveway onto the site from Morphett Rd has been laid. So construction should be underway shortly. Hooray!

Absolutely this pool is for everyone, I was more thinking about drawing people into or around the CBD. It's always bothered me that we have a velodrome near gepps cross (and a hockey arena there too I think), AAMI stadium at westlakes, Hindmarsh stadium a little too far from the CBD and now this at Marion.
It is good for those down south and good for everyone in general because we can all use it, I was just thinking it would be better if we had a state sports centre, and call it whatever you like, near the CBD somewhere. Like Melbourne has the football and the tennis we could have the swimming and the cycling near the CBD to compliment the Adelaide Oval potential redevelopment and sell off the land at the existing facilities.

I agree with you Benski81, but beware, some people get a tad upset if you use the word "Melbourne" here to compare it with something Adelaide could have.

Ideally it should have been built within or closer to the CBD but I guess this compliments the centre in North Adelaide. It's good to have some development (job/economic wise) down Marion way, it's been pretty quiet for a while..
