Crawf, you have given me the idea of posting pictues of Adelaide in the staffroom with the development map I made. They'll probably tell me to go home - now that's a thought!! But must promote the place first - they get a bit arrogant up here about QLD.
ADELAIDE - A GREAT PLACE TO BE

The new look Hungry Jacks appears to be open. There were people walking in and out.
I didn't go look myself, I ended up with KFC instead.

I much prefer the suspended cube idea. That is just unreal.

i too prefer the cube design .. that way if there is a sporting event such as world cup or aussies in rugby we could converge down rundle mall to watch it .. they could also close off rundle street from pultney to Frome and have people converge there. I'm sure the retailers there would love it as during the game can get a bite to eat, drink and watch some sport.
The could put the cube on pulleys so it could rise up and down .. new years eve countdown could start off low and with the countdown, rise up and have fireworks shooting out from top of it when it hit 12.00am ... haha

The cube is nice...but since we have already been told what we are getting there is not point in discussing it really??
Having said that it probably isn't a good idea as the location is closed and cramped and thus not conducive to heaps of people...A cube design screen could be implemented in any redevelopment of Vic square.. It draws from the Fed Square idea, however it would be a cubed 4 screen design rather than 1 screen..
To me that works very well, what a better way than to meet at the sates cultural/arts hub (Vic square) then move onto other areas from there..

If you were going to have a cubed screen in Victoria Square, where exactly would you position it? I doubt good ol' Queen Victoria would really appreciate having that over her head
. The centre of the square where the statue is would be the best spot in my opinion but unlike the staue of Kingston which was moved back in March, it wouldn't be as easy to convince the people since it is in such a noticable spot.
I am all for the idea since it would probably be the best way to make a Federation Square style development in Adelaide, just need to figure out how to arrange everything. Perhaps Sensational-Adelaide as a whole group could enter that competition the ACC has got going to design a new square? All pool our ideas together.
Back on topic now don't we say!

Wanting it in the middle of Vic Square is all well and good, but what will it be suspended from? It'd be a bit less... discrete.

It will magically just suspend in the air as is portrayed through the image of the cube in rundle...

I would like to see the cube idea used for the Gawler & Rundle Mall intersection

It soesnt need to be suspendend it could still be a cube and fixed somehow....Anyway, the forum on this topic is Rundle Convergence, not Vic Square..so lets revert back to that (even though it was me who bought vic square into this)
I still think the cube isnt suited to that area...I actually don't mid the proposed convergence LED display it will add colour! Isnt there meant to be a screen placed in Rundle Mall??

What about Rundle & Hindley intersection? I think thats the end that could really do with the bright lights. It is our main late night entertainment district.
I think Hindley street should become one way on Fri/Sat nights, or close off trafic all together.
Think those shared streets at Salisbury. Taxi's only maybe?
I also think it would be good if we could promote more action in the mall at night. There is the action at Hindley street, then there is the action on Rundle Street.. .nothing in between except a few scalpers.
Edit: sorry been a long day..
