I live just over the road from this so called playground. I have to admit like the rest of you that there doesn't seem to be any kids interested in it... except for the initial 'what the???' factor.
But I have noticed that there are always people hanging around there - and they are not just emos.
I don't like it as a playground, but I do like it as an interesting piece of installation art.
BTW Due to popular demand Mike is back...

I dont get how they ever expected kids to play around poles sticking out of the ground, and fish skeletons.
What were they thinking? Ofcourse its alright to probably spend .5 million or whatever it was on this, but nothing else worth while.

i believe this playground was more about the councillors ego than anything else - near the east side of the park is a podium with brass plaque that lists ALL of the councillors names for posterity

It's better than another empty patch of grass. Public art really adds to the feel of a space, and Melbourne is a great example of this.

It would be good if ths thread would focus on the new building rather than on the fucking playyground.
As said by the young Clark Gable " Frankly m' dear,i don't give a damn".

I had thought the statues were part of the project.

Ummmm... no.
The playground appears to have little to do with anything much except as some form of visual statement about Adelaide progress...
whatever
Went past the Conservatory site today and there are still trrucks loading dirt away from the site: not much to see above ground level.
This is not a fast project compared with other buildings underway. However the site itself is very cramped.

This building will definitely have an big impact on the eastern skyline. I was driving along fullarton rd the other day (heading north past vic park) and you can clearly see the old KPMG building next door (the red/cream one with the vaulted roof).
Can't wait for the conservatory to be built! hurry up you construction guys!!!

It's supposed to be shorter (by roughly 6 metres), but renders make it looks pretty much the same height... maybe even slightly taller. I guess only time (ie. completion) will tell how it really compares!

No, the KPMG Building is 72m, whereas COH will be 62m.

Thanks guys - the renders make it look bigger.(Especially the publicity ones issued some months ago). Still, excellent to see something of that size facing HSQ.
