I'm surprised no one has said how ugly the western wall of this is, especially with the concrete ART apartments next door. Hopefully there will be some treatment to add contrast in materials or design.

it is only the top 9 stories that belong to the new building the lower 13 levels belong to the existing Art Apartment building. Besides the new building is not complete yet.

Looks like there will be cladding across the top bit of the Western wall. I haven't seen a render form this side so not sure what it will look like.

Here is a close up view of the west side. the blue layer is a moisture proof and insulating layer, then there a light weight aluminium framing (Rondo) then some grey cement type sheeting which may be painted (rendered) some other colour.

It looks as though the western wall is being clad with... concrete looking panels. Say it isn’t so! How odd.

I saw that and thought the same thing. Bit of an expensive exercise for little change in outcome.

Have to wait and see how it turns out, but while not the greatest cladding ever I think it could look decent, almost marble like.

Pic from today of the concrete being covered up by concrete coloured cladding.

I won't judge this one until it is finished but yeah it's not looking good so far on the western side. I walked past Kodo on the market side today and it ended up not half bad all things considered. Here's hoping they manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat with this one as well.

Viewed from that angle, I like the three tier steps that are obvious. From Art, to the first setback, to the pinnacle. Once the screens are removed and all of the glazing is installed, it could be quite striking.

Couple of photos taken today. Towering over the East End.
