Never really been to Brisbane - just once on a sports trip. I should get up there and have a look around.

I know the Majestic Apartments and agree with you that they're well done.
I don't know how much you know about Brisbane, but I'd much rather Port Adelaide apartments resemble the woolstore redevelopments up here and see a few conversions of old buildings rather than just becoming a a square sea of glass and prefab concrete with dashes of "architectural aubergine" (very funny btw).
There are a number of empty old woolstore buildings still left in the Port which will hopefully be developed sometime in the near future. They are beautiful old buildings with so much character. It would be great to have them converted to apartments. I recall seeing something in the Portside Messenger about this a couple of years ago, but nothing since.
On a tangent, Stage 2 of the Anchorage apartments have begun.

The woolstores are big and flat, but I think you could do a sort of square donut job - ground floor parking with access through to a big internal garden and lightwell, and above two stories of units looking both outwards and into the lightwell. Plus cabana bars on the roof of course if the structure would take it.

Passed by the New Port Quays development last night after picking
my wife up from TechPort. Got to say anything is better that what
was their or is still there now...
This will revitalise the Port and the Quay area however that
Birkenhead Bridge needs an overhall and eventually that
whole area.
It will be funny to see if in a few years when the New Port Quays
area is finally finished they decide to put 3 meter high security
fencing to keep the hoons and vandals out.

I don't think gated communities are allowed in Australia. It creates division of socio-economic classes, which having experienced first-hand in Indonesia is quite disturbing. The security fences are a no-go.

Take a look at Mirra Monte at the bottom of the Freeway - it's a gated community. There's also one at Netley on Watson Ave I think.

Yep sure are, even in Adelaide there's a few. Much smaller scale, and in blocks of maybe 6-7.

There are plenty of examples of gated communities in Adelaide.
In fact, I've been involved in two of them in the past three years or so. Personally, I dislike the idea but I can see arguments for and against gated communities.

There's one up the street here, it's got high tension power lines running though its centre.

That'll happen once the new bridges are open.

Probably my last look at the Port before I move.
Here you can see construction of the new inlet under way:

Canberra hey AtD.... dont forget ur warm jumper....
And you should make a few runs on the britannia roundabout to familiarise yourself with canberras road infrustructure hehe.
One of my family members has come back to Adelaide after being in canberra for ages and he tells me that whenever he gets homesick he goes on the britannia roundabout!! (sarcastic remark)
