I asked before and I dont think anybody had the answer, but anyone know what the building or structure currently being constructed is opposite the current darlington exit?

Can you give us a bit more detail about the location? I'm not sure what you mean with "Darlington Exit".HeapsGood wrote:I asked before and I dont think anybody had the answer, but anyone know what the building or structure currently being constructed is opposite the current darlington exit?

There's a dark grey concrete building being built opposite the current expressway end at Darlington

yeah what is that box?? I wonder everytime I drive past it!! it's on the eastern side of south road almost directly opposite where u turn onto the expressway.

Interesting point. It isn't in the fly-through but it is in the most recent project plan. It could be a centre for community facilities or similar, as it is shown to have parking. Another, less likely possibility would be a pumping station or an electricity substation.aceman wrote:yeah what is that box?? It looks like a miniature version of Dwell on Waymouth.

I am thinking now it could maybe be a new GP building for the one it replaced but I will contact DPTI to find out.

"Good afternoon HeapsGood
The structure that you refer to is a Computer Equipment Room which will house the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for the new section of lowered motorway for Darlington Upgrade project and the Southern Expressway.
Traffic lights, variable message signs and cameras are a few examples of what the ITS controls.
If you have any further queries please feel free to contact the project team directly on 1300 759 334 or [email protected]"

It is now a "Priority Project" rather than "Initiative" at http://infrastructureaustralia.gov.au/p ... -list.aspx where it was only an initiative last week still.

Funny how fast things move in am election year budget.
It only seems like a short piece as well, i assume it is just an underpass under Regency rd?

Elevated roadway I think - according to the concept plan.

Infrastructure Australia defines a "Priority Project" as a "potential infrastructure solution for which a full business case has been completed and been positively assessed by theSBD wrote: ↑Mon Apr 30, 2018 8:20 pmIt is now a "Priority Project" rather than "Initiative" at http://infrastructureaustralia.gov.au/p ... -list.aspx where it was only an initiative last week still.
Infrastructure Australia Board. A Priority Project addresses a nationally-significant problem or opportunity."
The Pym St to Regency Road upgared is assessed as "Near term 0-5 years".
It should be noted that SA has no "High Priority" projects. The Eyre Infrastructure Project (Iron Road) project is the other Priority Project for SA.
