I noticed the festoon lighting in the mall has been taken down. The mall was so dark and devoid of life on Friday night. Why would they do that coming into the darkest gloomiest time of year? poor decision IMO.

That's a shame. The Rundle Mall lighting that was put in a few years ago looks look hardware wise, but is way too dim.

The lights that have been hanging over the mall since Christmas made the mall look so much better at night.

Yeah, the festoon lighting was taken down a few weeks ago.

I agree that the permanent catenary lighting is too dim (my only real qualm with the upgrade), but I don't know if the festoon lighting should be ongoing either. If it were up year-round it'd lose any occasional significance - for Christmas, festivals, or whatnot.

At Christmas just add some coloured lights. :D

Some photos of Rundle Mall Plaza from today. A few sounds emanating from the scaffolding.

Lasy night I walked past the "Chinatown Plaza" foodcourt in Moonta Street that has been under renovation for years. I think it was supposed to open early last year.

It looks like its finally going to reopen soon. All the posters boarding up the place were gone and it was full of workers setting up tables and chairs. I could see resteraunts and empty Coke fridges! Does anyone know the story of this place?

Antique Market on Grote St closes at the end of this month.
Luckily I bought a book from 2000 called Highway Through The Hills and it's about how the Heysen Tunnels were built.

Cash Wizard on the station entry ramp closes at the end of August.
There was also one in Holden Hill but it closed for business in 2016.

Also, Donut Inn's neon signage wasn't switched on by the time it was still trading this month. Is this a hint that closure is inevitable?

It seems as though a lot of shops within the station have closed up. Does anyone know whats going on here?

Apparently the rents are to high, or maybe they are pushing the current traders out to completely revamp the current offerings.

The shops themselves are also tiny, so the types of shops that can go in are limited.

I'm not surprised that Movenpick ice creamery on cnr Leigh St/Hindley St is being converted into Kintaro Sushi.

Damn those dentistry costs!
