[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
This is far more consistent with the grain. The thing we don't need in this location is a wall of blue glass like that abomination of a proposal prior.Ben wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 9:23 amFrom Axiom's results announcment today:
This is probably just an early concept.CURRIE ST, ADELAIDE CBD
The Company, in conjunction with its Joint Venture partner, has been developing an exciting scheme for it’s
development site in the heart of the Adelaide CBD at 62 Currie Street. Following an extensive design competition the
Group elected to work with national architecture firm Hames Sharley on the mixed-use project, which is likely to
incorporate commercial office, retail and hotel uses. Given the strong interest received from both national and
international hotel operators for a new “lifestyle/millennial” hotel for Adelaide, the Group conducted an international
operator search for qualified and appropriate hotel operators to anchor this component of the development and will
formally engage the selected operator subsequent to year end.
Not a world beater but the best to date.
If only they could find a way to retain the arto deco facade.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
I actually don't mind it. Currie Street could end up becoming the premier hotel strip in Adelaide soon. With the Cnr of King William & Currie, Sofitel, this, and two other proposals that I've heard mentioned, it could be quite the looker in the future.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
A hotel operator has been chosen and an announcement will be made this quarter according to their half yearly report that came out today.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
Is it going to still be that god awful design from the previous page?
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
The only proposal approved is the original pruszinski one. I would assume that’s lapsed so they’ll need to lodge a new application meaning we haven’t seen the final design yet.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | New design
Please put that god-awful render-design in the Sensational-Adelaide banner immediately!!!!
Coz you know what will happen then.....

As announced yesterday in the General CBD thread.
QT Boutique Hotel Announced For Adelaide
QT’s South Australian foray will be Adelaide’s first lifestyle hotel, bringing a unique offering to the market.
By Glam Adelaide on Feb 22, 2019
Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited (EVENT) today announced it has entered into a management agreement for its newest QT hotel in Adelaide at 62 Currie St in the heart of the CBD. This will be the 11th QT hotel in the group and QT’s first introduction to South Australia, joining the growing portfolio of QT properties across Australia and New Zealand.
A design-led hotel with a luxurious and quirky flair, complemented by a distinctive signature service, QT’s South Australian foray will be Adelaide’s first lifestyle hotel, bringing a unique offering to the market. QT’s focus on creating award winning bars and restaurants ensures it is loved by travelers and locals alike. QT Adelaide will be no exception, with bold new QT signature dining concepts and a sweeping rooftop bar, designed to reflect and complement the local community.
The $180 million development will incorporate QT’s latest hotel offering of exciting food and bar offerings and feature 200 guest rooms and extensive conferencing and events facilities, unlike anything seen before in Adelaide. The development will also incorporate 10 levels of unique office space designed for a new generation of employers and employees embodying the best of “work, stay, play” philosophies.
Property development and investment group Axiom Properties Limited announced a Joint Venture with the site’s owner Auspac Networks Pty Ltd in June 2017 to deliver a unique mixed-use offering to Adelaide’s premier entertainment precinct, known for its hip small bars and exceptional restaurants.
The partners are set to lodge for development approval in February 2019 and commence their commercial pre-leasing campaign for the office component. The Joint Venture is currently in advanced negotiations with its first anchor tenant who is keen to support this exciting new vision. Construction is likely to commence by the end of 2019 following securing of sufficient pre-commitments for the office component and funding.
QT Hotels recently celebrated a triple-win in the annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, with three QT properties ranking in the top 15 hotels in Australia and New Zealand.
Further details regarding QT Adelaide will be announced soon.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | ~100m | 25 Levels | QT Hotel
I really like the look of the bottom floors.. but that’s about it. In true Adelaide fashion, expect them to be dumbed down one way or another, prior to starting. 🥴
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | ~100m | 25 Levels | QT Hotel
Essentially a carbon copy of the new BHP building. Wish they used the original Pruszinksi design.
[CAN] Re: 64 Currie Street | ~100m | 25 Levels | QT Hotel
The arches are nice touch to the podium but nothing exciting about yet another box tower design. That said, Currie Street needs the investment, and it'd be great to see another development finally get going (it feels like, for all the proposals in the last 2 years, very few have or are likely to).

Building design aside, the QT brand is a very exciting addition to the Adelaide hotel scene. The recently completed QT in Perth is also a very unremarkable building, but the interior is top notch, and the rooftop bar and restaurant is great. This will be great for this part of the city.SRW wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 11:44 amThe arches are nice touch to the podium but nothing exciting about yet another box tower design. Agreed, and it's always a good thing for the city to gain more hotel beds. They make it easier for tourists to visit and increase our capacity to host successful events.claybro wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 1:37 pmBuilding design aside, the QT brand is a very exciting addition to the Adelaide hotel scene.
