ACC Public Notice in last week's City Messenger (P13) - BHP Billiton has applied for use of Elder Park as a live site to show the
Seven broadcast of the Beijing Olympics on a large screen between 5 and 27 August.

Yeah I read somewhere today (can't remember where :D ) that BHP are major sponsors of the Beijing Olympics and they are not actually advertising but doing these live screenings in lots of places around the world instead (mainly resource rich countries). Very unusual for a mining company to sponsor an olympics but it is to do with China's huge demand for BHP's goods and trying to appeal to corporate clients.

I find it kind of ironic really given the large black market for scrap metal in China.

Interesting actually. This artwork is installed on LC house(Hindley / Blyth street corner) where the 22 levels of hotel is proposed. Must be temporary.
