There have been issues with some of the subcontractors on this site. Insolvency issues...

Could be a reason for the slow pace of things.
No one was on site at all today. Something is definitely wrong.
Probably the rain!
That's the union for ya. 8)

A difficult site to get ant photos

The lift core has started and the concrete distributor boom installed last week.

Coming up to 18 months and still not above ground. This must be over a year behind schedule.

Yep, I feel especially sorry for the restaurant Eleven bordering this property. A high-end establishment that opened just before demolition started. They must be absolutely spewing at the slow progress on this site. It would've no doubt affected their business.

From what I can gather there's significant work going into the GPO as well which isn't as visible as other parts of the construction. Once these are stabilised and sured up, more of the new super structure will commence.

This isn't quite your typical construction site. Given the proximity of excavation and construction to an existing heritage building, I imagine extra care and checks are in place to ensure that there isn't any accidental undermining and compromising of the existing heritage building.

Once the core and floor slabs pass ground level, it should be a lot quicker going forward.

Just came across this forum/thread so thought I'd be able to help with updates.
They've only just extended the concrete distribution boom on a tower and now setting up the raising/moveable decking over the lift shafts.
Being a handyman I'm not familiar with major construction, but it appears that the formwork below the decking will raise up after each shaft level walls are poured.
The grey steel framework under the deck is supported on adjustable jacks.
At the bottom of the picture you can just see some white roofing. That is prefab sections that I an assuming will form a roof over the deck.

Cheers

Not much to see from the ground level just yet.

There are more columns being framed and poured and it is finally out of the ground. With the heritage buildings adjacent and the compact site, it has probably taken a lot longer than a normal build.

Will be good to have a Marriott in town
