Yes, I didn't expect anyone to take that seriously.

It's safe to assume that the instant anyone knows of something like a rumour of 200m+ buildings in Adelaide there will be very active discussion of it.

I've done a rough mock up of the SA1 tower and freemasons from a different angle. Not to scale.

Also here is some interesting comments form the planning website....

Shame to see people wanting to hold Adelaide back. Really hoping this one goes up.

If that guy doesn't like taller buildings, tell him to move to darwin. He'd be right at home
Also could you link that 'planning website' forum here please. I haven't seen it.

Was waiting for this news since December. CDJ gave us a hint for something then. A little disappointed not pushed to the 200 metre limit, but beggars can't be choosers. Anyhow back in December I put this image together to see what reaction it would get but never posted it. A bit of an anti climax now I guess. Anyhow let's enjoy the moment.

Cheers
But why are these (red/black lines) relevant when the actual flight paths are far north from these developments (shown below)
Great image.

Does anyone know if we're likely to see buildings get up to/past 200m or nah?
If developers put the work in for the aviation planning, this development definitely paves the way for a 200m building. It's only a 20m increase from this development, definitely negotiable.
This is a truly pivotal point for progress in Adelaide. Very exciting times.

Yeah, if this one gets approved, I would expect more developers to propose developments like this or possibly taller eventually.

The posts on the planning website clearly written by one person, not sure if they had different accounts but the style of writing, exact same opening comment and use of '??' kind of gives it away. Also the idea that a 180m is 'twice' as tall as anything else... LOL. Real AdelaideNow level of commentary.

I don't doubt however that there are people that truly hold that view. I recall a group in Rundle Mall a few years back specifically attacking 'tall' buildings. It's kind of a thing for a certain type of person, some of whom lived near me when I lived in the south-west of the CBD. As far as I am aware, no-one is proposing or would be permitted to build 90m, let alone 180m buildings in the heavily 'residential' parts of the city.

As long as the ACC is out of the loop on approvals, this really comes down to if this can get funding in a pretty tough environment.

Will found this photo on a real estate website and it seemed perfect for blocking in this developments scale. At this angle you can really see how it is going to dominate the area.

absolutely, there's nothing significant in that part of the CBD. I'm assuming that these larger proposals will gradually start shifting further south.

The AAL response indicates that the top of the building will reach 227m AHD. The site I believe is around 45AHD plus or minus a few metres.

So pretty much the 180m mark, give or take a few metres. Super impressive! I can't wait to see the renders!

The City of Adelaide response drops some interesting hints about the towers appearance.

Also it's nice to see this in writing:
