That would be "The New Citroen" from Mythologies, right? As with the other essays in the book, he's talking about the car not to study engineering per se, but to dissect what message the image of the car (and the public's response to it) is sending to us about ourselves and how we understand the world. It's the beginning of "popular culture studies" or "media studies" in sociology.

Now, get this, I didn't have my copy of Mythologies handy to check, so I took a look at Amazon's listing for it, and saw in the table of contents that "The New Citroen" is on page 88! Coincidence? Hardly!
