Complaints abound (apparently) from regular AAMI Stadium attendees that AO offers significantly less protection from the elements (rain, wind). Presumably caused by higher roof heights?

What retrofitting is being done?
Not sure what's being done, just remember it being said after the Australia v New Zealand soccer match a couple of years ago (apparently a lot of people got soaked sitting in the stand).

Some pics from mid April, mainly showing the "presence" in War Memorial Drive & mods to the existing stand - apparently because of the weather as mentioned

Do we know whether there are plans to moderately re-align and re-surface memorial drive, significantly improve the pedestrian pathways?

It would really sweeten the deal if their was a proposal to build an arena on the site of the tennis centre + the leisure club. It'd be unbelievably close to the CBD, it would give them the opportunity to close the Entertainment Centre, ETSA Park (create more Bowden style urban centers on these two locations, or sell them?) and perhaps try to encourage the 36ers away from Clipsal Powerhouse, whilst also providing a much larger tennis centre, and giving us a platform to take back the rights to the Adelaide International from Brisbane. 15,000 capacity would go nicely. I know that this isn't directly tied with Adelaide Oval, but seems the best thread to bring it up. Thoughts?

Since the developement of Adelaide Oval, Memorial drive is well placed to be re-developed. I think moving the 36ers from Beverly is a must to improve their visibility. The Powerhouse or whatever it is called now is in a sutpid location, tucked away in the back streets of suburbia as it is.How many poeple in Adelaide even know where it is? Given the goverment bailouts, the valuable land on which this sits could well fund such a developement of Memorial drive. I would leave the Ent Cent as is as a medium size venue, but as per Patricks post, make Memorial Drive a larger venue for more flexibility.

Problem is that the Adelaide Dome does not belong to the Govt, so we cant sell it to fund a Memorial Drive upgrade.

Ah good point. I had forgotten about that. Shame really because that stadium is in a very poor location, and would have been ideal to sell off. Im sure the owners of the 36ers would have a much more marketable team at Memorial Drive if it were to be developed.

Anyone catch 10 News?
Saw a tweet before about the plaza apparently being "in limbo" for some reason.

Answered my own question.

Complete beat up by the Libs again.
On one hand you've got the MP for Adelaide petitioning to stop the footbridge because we can't afford it, then Vicki Chapman calling for the Hajek Plaza to be redeveloped.

Make up your minds.

State Libs really are completely clueless and clutching at straws. Good to see Anne Moran advocating for the developement of the plaza though.

The Plaza in front of the southern stand will be extended out over War memorial Dr and connect to the new footbridge. There will be either pedestrian lights or a zebra X-ing located there and on game days the enire road will be blocked of to vehicular movements.

They should close that section of War Memorial Drive off from NextGen gym up to King William Rd.
Incorporate Pinky Flat, the new pedestrian bridge into the plaza behind the southern stand into one giant pedestrian friendly zone, with only limited access for delivery/service/team/broadcasting/emergency vehicles.
