having walked past it many times, i would say in fact probaly 2 trees possibly 3 should be given the flick, but i guess this was to smooth over relations with the council that they decided to incorporate them in the bridge concept grrrr

my god this looked spectacular flying into Adelaide early this evening. The terrace sections now seem to be almost all in place for the southern stand. Looked like a superbowl, looks cooool

Call me crazy, but I think this whole redevelopment will have a massive impact on the way the citizens of our city see themselves and our city. 30-40k people trekking into the city every weekend will do wonders for dispelling the ghost-town...what (if anything) is going on in the CBD? Friday night games and Showdowns will be really Adelaide Alive type stuff:)

I can't believe the furore about the councils parking restrictions.
seems like an obvious thing to do.

Adelaideans(myself included) have this pathological hatred of paying for parking. Combined with the need to find the negative angle on any topic so as to have a good grizzle, thus we can all now see why the Advertiser has the editorial policy it does. That said, I'll definitely be using PT into anything I attend at New AdOval.

One of the huge benefits of playing footy in the city is the accessibility via many different modes of public transport.
Why would anyone consider driving in and expecting a park close to Adelaide Oval? (Exception being people with disabilities).
Parking restrictions around the Oval and North Adelaide are a no brainer. Hopefully, the special needs of nurses, doctors etc and parents of children at the hospital are considered.
I always catch the Footy Express to AAMI (great service) and wonder why so many insist on travelling by car and getting caught up in the massive traffic congestion. There needs to be a massive mindshift for people attending games/events at Adelaide Oval. Leave the car at home (or park and ride eg Mt. Barker) and make use of public transport.
Will the incentives to use public transport during major events continue? eg Clipsal - cost of PT included in ticket/sponsored free travel. Some will also take the opportunity to extend the day/evening out with the range of additional options eg dining, hospitality, shopping, special events.
