Ah yes, the unnecessary right-hand turn, how could anyone possibly forget...

There was meant to be a laugh on that.

Wasn't there also a promise to extend the King WIlliam Road stub through North Adelaide?

Nope. There was a promise to consider it.

Ok, we considered it, nah!

Nope. The Liberals will keep their promise to look at North Adelaide and part of the City Loop. Once they've looked at it, they've kept their promise. They don't have to build it.

In four years time, the Labor Party MAY look at it. However, realistically, it wasn't a vote winner, so I don't think it will come up again. Why should it?

Next point. The ALP didn’t release the business case. So cynical me says it was very very very borderline.

If that is so, the Liberals, quite properly, won't touch uneconomic tram extensions. In addition, if the business case was marginal, it would be hard for the ALP to push next time round.

My guess is that we've seen the last tram extension for at least 8 years...or more. As a tram fan, I'm sad. However, if it didn't stack up economically, as a taxpayer, I'm glad. From a democratic pov, people knew what was at stake in terms of infrastructure, and voted no. That's it.

I'm not sure of your assessment that it wasn't a vote winner. There's been a 2.8% swing towards Labor in Adelaide as of current counting (despite the boundary redistribution giving the Liberals an extra 0.6%), and there's still a chance they could steal it (only 67 votes in it at the moment).

I’m amazed we still have Liberal supporters calling the City West and Entertainment Centre extensions a tram to nowhere

How bloody sad. So disappointed, I was really hoping I could take the tram from the city to work in North Adelaide... but not anymore, I guess I’ll just have to keep walking :(
So glad they are spending $30 million on the right hand turn though.... Said no one ever

Its so sad that the Libs don't believe in Public Transport :( i guess we can go back to watching the PT network stagnate :(

Will they even bother to finish the North Tce extension?

Let's just wait n see what gets delivered by the Liberals in the next 4 years before we judge?

For all of Labor's pro-tram and rail talk, they've delivered a 1km tram extension, minor rail station improvements and no further rail electrification in the past 4 years.

Well there's certainly an opportunity to finally deliver the electrification of the Rail line to Gawler and look pretty good at the ribbon cutting ceremony. *fingers crossed*

Seaford Extension
Goodwood rail junction
Torrens Rail Junction
O-Bahn tunnel (I'm still having to remind myself I need to hurry to my stop when I see the bus is at the Hackney Road, Botanic Road intersection because it's only a few minutes away, not 10 mins or more)

People in the know, had the Flinders rail extension contracts been signed?

The Port Adelaide spur, Gawler Line electrification and Flinders Link will still go ahead. All those projects have had contracts signed.

And most of that swing was under the mentality that "we need change for the sake of change." It wasn't necessarily anything to do with policy and besides, over the next four years you'll start to see more and more of the older Liberal voters drop off the face of the earth.
