They could try splitting the motorway from Edwardstown to Emerson and build them in two stages.

- using the east side of railway tce to near Ackland St/Raglan St and switch back for the northbound route- tricky with the existing cross rd bridge would need to take those business on NW corner of that overpass.
- use current south rd with elevated rd or east side near cross rd bridge for south bound,

Would be best to have it ready for any future cross rd upgrade to SE freeway (if that would be the connection)
Really think the tram overpass would need to be extended in that case and have 4 lanes going north from Emerson to Gallipoli (at least most of the way) and 3/4 going south with smooth merging capability from Anzac heading south and turning traffic Cross Rd onto South rd heading north (and south too)

Do you think that, during the building of the Edwardstown section, they will somehow align Raglan Ave with Edward St, thus creating a through-route from Morphett Road to Belair Road? I have often thought this is long overdue, if for no other reason than making South Road flow better by reducing the amount of traffic lights.

That will depend more on the Castle Plaza development... Whenever that is starting.

I'm still trying to work out why bunnings are building a new store right where a motor way is going to be built!!! :applause:

The new one in the Munno Para area is built right next to the Norhtern Expressway, visible well before the exit. It is otherwise out in the middle of nowhere, and replaced one next to the large shopping centre. They obviously expect that their customers will be driving to get there as it's near an occasional bus route (the one that services Angle Vale), is not convenient to cycle or walk to (from anywhere), and has no other shops nearby.

I guess next to the motorway is part of the business model.

Actually most of that area round the NEXY where Bunnings is will be housing in the near future. Bunnings built there because of the growt that’s going to occur.

What is the likelyhood of the future connection from the South-Eastern Freeway extending West of the North-South Corridor to connect with the airport to support the increase of freight movements there?

I just read this comment about the Northern Connector in Salisbury Council's St Kilda Master Plan:
It is intended that the road corridor will have a thematic aproach to the four interchange gateways (South Road, Bolivar Road, Waterloo Corner Road and Northern Expressway) based upon Kaurna heritage and the environmental significance of the area through which it traverses.
I wonder if we could offer any suggestions?

I had thought that we could get the guy who did the cockroach sculpture on Pt Wakefield Rd to do a giant metal mozzie for the Bolivar Interchange

Sorry I can only load 1 picture at a time. The tacky art work /shelter at the intersection. The one at Port road is more complete with small columns in front and cross beams.

I think those sticks at the bridges are formed that way to commemorate the bent poles along North Terrace.

One of those poles appears to have a camera attached, so presumably DPTI will publish a time-lapse of the construction eventually.
