Hindmarsh have updated their website, and I came across this project: Wine Innovation Centre, University of Adelaide - Waite Campus
The building has a total area of 12,000m2 over four levels that includes teaching facilities, laboratory and office accommodation for University and related wine industry service providers including the Australian Wine Research Institute. A very heavily serviced building providing modern teaching & research laboratory facilities. The cladding consists of clip on terra cotta files which softened the look of the facade in this foothills residential precinct.

Many thanks to Duncan Bainbridge for sending us some updates on some of the great projects that Hassell are involved with.

Press Release

Hassell was appointed by the University of Adelaide in September 2006 to design a new facility that would primarily replace the existing and aging facilities of the Australian Wine Research Institute, to be known as Wine Innovation Central (WIC) building.

The $28m project - jointly funded by The University of Adelaide, the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Resources of South Australia – brings together Australia's leading wine research, viticulture and development groups into a single purpose built state-of-the-art research facility located at Urrbrae, in the foothills of Adelaide, south east of the city.

The new 7,280sqm facility has been designed to reflect the Wine Innovation Cluster’s position as the most dynamic mix of grape and wine researchers assembled in one precinct anywhere in the world and consolidates the activities of the five leading research agencies within a new landmark building to address the needs of the grape and wine sector.

lol - i jog nearby this building a couple of times a week - never occurred to me that it's not in our database!
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

My goodness - it's a 2008 update of the original 1960s Sacred Heart College boarding house.

 I look forward to the 2009 rendition of the science building (tries to recall the words to "Sub Tuum Praesidium")

If it's completed, could we have photos to compare with the renders?

Goodness! Actually, the school doing may finally be learning its lesson in adding new building stock, at least in so far as the Stables redevelopment appears to more sympathetic to its environs than the purple and white Performing Arts bunker...

But back on topic, the top picture is the completed product, not a rendering. You can see it more clearly in this document which Howie added to another thread.

I'm afraid that archetecturally, this building does absolutely nothing for me. It looks like a glass cube tacked on to the front of a 1970s brick cube :(

I hope it looks better in real life than it does in the photo.
cheers,
Rhino
