Wholly concur. Big bulky disappointment in a very prominent location. Looks like a very ordinary 1960s hospital.Patrick_27 wrote:Plasmatron wrote:I took these two photos on Wednesday last week (20/1/2016).
Well, anyone who was hopeful of this looking half decent can forget about that, it looks absolutely hideous.

Looks very similar to the render
It's not amazing, but I think it's alright.

Same - not amazing, but all right, and good to see a finished product look so much like it's render!
cheers,

I actually think that it looks pretty good so far, but still at this point it's a bit early to tell.

Just wondering. Is "all right" OK? Is mediocrity the best we can aspire to?

meh, I say get over it My Honey, its not that bad and it brings much needed density to the area. Architecture is subjective. This is not bad, and the top section looks alright, its just the bottom and mid levels that looks a bit blandHoney of a City wrote:Just wondering. Is "all right" OK? Ta jk. Well and truly over it. Going for density from now on.jk1237 wrote:meh, I say get over it My Honey, its not that bad and it brings much needed density to the area. Architecture is subjective. Sorry, but how can you say that? I dare you to go on the PO (former City Central) development forum and tell people who hate the proposed box-like structure to "get over it". Face it, the building looks like a pile of shit and rather than improve the area that's currently dominated by the awful Balfours development it's only added to it..jk1237 wrote:meh, I say get over it My Honey, its not that bad and it brings much needed density to the area. So patrick,
your "Beggars can't be choosers" statement doesn't seem to have much consistency ?

So much for that, huh?
Does anyone in the know know how long this will probably take?
Also, "know know" sounds wrong. It reminds me of the sign with too much space between "Fish" and "And", and "And" and "Chips". Of course, that has nothing on this monstrosity.

In regards to my comment of 'beggars can't be choosers' on the VUE forum, it was directed at the people complaining about the glass finish on the building who just so happen to be the same people who overrun the forums with their almost borderline obsessive desire to see a height increase in our CBD.serca wrote:So patrick,

In clarifying that, how has my comment above demonstrated any form of inconsistency?

Originally was supposed to have been complete by November last year.Phantom wrote:So much for that, huh?

Probably awhile to go yet. Most of the scaffold is due to be down by early March. I'm guessing the building will look a more complete at that point, even though the internals have more work to do.

I spoke to a worker onsite this morning and they're hoping to finish by easter time. Apparently there's
been some theft at night time which has caused delays.

Perhaps "extreme weather conditions" include overcast days and days where the temperatures reach the mid-twenties.Vision on Morphett wrote:The project is nearing completion, however due to the extremely hot inclement weather stripping of the scaffold has been delayed. Notwithstanding this, the project is looking fantastic and Practical Completion is forecast for the end of March 2016, providing extreme weather conditions don't continue.
