There's no way he's Labor or Liberal. He's a Greens voter for sure.

I don't see why his age is relevant. Older people can write poorly and have wacky opinions too. Young people can be very inciteful because they have not been acculturated as much.Ben wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 3:56 pmI agree with you Rev... Did I just say that?
He has no idea about any of the topics he writes his opinion pieces on. How he got that job I will never know.
he's only 17

Get some life experience and education and then come back to us.
I didn't particularly like the article style or content, but that is not related to his age. Good on him for getting a weekly column at his age. Now he has to prove he is worth it.

You don't have teenage kids at home do you?! Expect all the respect and accolades for their opinions, with none of the hard yards of life lessons put in. Set in stone "opinion factoids" change rapidly when confronted with the realities of real world outside of school and university.SBD wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 8:48 amI don't see why his age is relevant. Re: Beer Garden
No I don't. But I have known teenagers who's opinions I have valued and trusted, and I have known both teenagers and people "old enough to know better" who's opinions I would not trust as far as I could throw them after screwing them into a ball. The person's age is not necessarily a good indicator of whether they have a clue.claybro wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 5:35 pmYou don't have teenage kids at home do you?! Re: Beer Garden
So who thinks Marshall has what it takes to convince Canberra to setup the headquarters for the new space agency here in SA?
I frankly lack any confidence he or anyone in his government can.

Re: Beer Garden
I would imagine that the space agency will most likely be located in multiple states. That way the commonwealth keeps people in different locations happy.
DSTO is located in different cities and we also saw with the AWD's that there were modules built in different locations.

Re: Beer Garden
If that's one thing we need in this state other than direct flights to Japan, its jobs in science. I've been looking for 5 years and haven't got anything.
I'm talking pure entry level for fresh graduates that don't have PhD's and 5 years of experience.

Obviously the national space agency will have involvement from multiple states and territories.
It may be that the HQ is located here, and launch facilities in Queensland, NT or WA that are closer to the equator. Although I believe I have read that it depends what sort of orbit the payload is being launched into.
Re: Beer Garden
From what I remember, an agreement was signed with the ACT to lobby for the space HQ to be in Canberra, while the actual on the ground work was to be in SA.
Re: Beer Garden
That's what I read about too ... I think it was a joint pitch between the ACT and SA governments.
Re: Beer Garden
We should be aiming, and I damn well hope we are aiming to get the fun stuff, and not the desk jockey stuff.
When you think of NASA, you think of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida where we all used to see the footage of the space shuttles going up, or Houston "we have a problem" mission control. You don't think of Washington DC where NASA's HQ is. They have nearly a dozen facilities spread across the country.

When I think of NASA I think of the cutting edge technology they develop. Watching a rocket launch would be great, but I'd rather a research facility that lures thousands of engineers and scientists from interstaterev wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 2:23 pmWe should be aiming, and I damn well hope we are aiming to get the fun stuff, and not the desk jockey stuff.

Disappointing that some particular websites still insist on posting images of Adelaide from last decade...
