That sounds like a load of garbage, considering the eastern stand is that far ahead of schedule, there could be as many as 5000 extra seats available in the eastern stand for the Ashes...

And if, by some miracle, you've already exceeded your daily quota of free Advertiser articles, you can just read the same article through news.com.au:

Providing (temporary) seats in a space that is available is a lot different to completing a complex permanent grand stand. The completion of the structure and seating is only one element in commissioning and finalising the stands in time for hand-over. Whatever the real status of the program on site - there is nothing like an immoveable deadline to ensure that all parties will find a way to hit the deadline and then sort out the mess and any extra pain (costs etc) after the Ashes. Whatever happens, it is simply a 5 day event (assuming the Aussies can last that long) with multiple temporary facility options available to run it successfully.

It won't be temporary seating though. Sounds like the lower tier of seats, and probably some of the catering/toilet facilities will be in and ready to go for the cricket - similar to what the MCG did during AFL finals during their redevelopment.

It will be great to have a crowd all the way around the boundary again after a couple of years of construction works People writing off the Aussies already in an Ashes Test Series...don't underestimate how mentally 'up' for it the team will be, they might look like dead beats on paper, but the game is not played on paper.

sounds similar to the MCG redevelopment around 2003/2004. I went to the 2004 Grand Final and half the new stands been built and had seating available on the ground floor level, second level and a bit of the top tier in one section. I'd imagine the southerly section of the eastern stand will be ready intime for the ashes.

^^ Move ya big head!
surely this should be on track for October? Does anyone know how long it will take to fit out everything on the inside? I keep hearing things like they're 3 months behind but surely this can't be true..

Can anyone confirm if the East and West stands will be identical or will they be quite different? Would be nice if they where both symmetrical.

same sort of roof structure but the eastern stand will be bigger. It will hold about 19,000 compared to 14,000

I got all excited seeing this photo
God I'm such a nerd. Where did you find this photo?
One of the members on BigFooty said that you were allowed to walk inside the stadium at the hill end (he took a couple of pics). Is this true?
I was on Pennington Tce and saw a big truck going through the main entrance to this gate, so I didn't bother thinking I'd be told off for going down there.

Pic was from The Advertiser website.
When I was home in January, I walked straight in and wasn't questioned. Had a wander, took loads of photos and all was fine.

Yes, it's easy to go into the AO at the northern end - via the Clarrie Grimmett gates off Pennington Terrace. We went there on Thursday this week to have a look and take a few pics. Red seats were being installed at the Southern end.
Just walk in, Henwii. The hard hat/construction areas are clearly fenced off so it's obvious where you can walk. You can get far enough in to see all the progress and take photos.
Tip: print a colour map of the Adelaide Oval and take it with you.

It shows the dfferent sections/levels/seating in each stand, facilities and lcation of the big screens etc. It was very useful. Awesome!
