Can we get these guys to work on the tram line?aaronjameslange wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 7:27 amFrom a news.com.au article dated Jan 9:
THE Torrens to Torrens upgrade of South Rd will be finished by the end of September, three months ahead of schedule.
The new roadway will open earlier than expected and come in $95 million under the originally forecast $896 million budget, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan said on Tuesday.
"This project was due to be completed by the very end of 2018, the end of this year. Now the estimated completion date is by the end of September,” Mr Mullighan said.

Apparently $1.2b has been earmarked for the Torrens to Anzac section of NS corridor has part of Liberals reelection campaign according to leaked documents to news.com.au

No, that's Federal funding that was supposedly in the last budget, but nobody noticed it until it was "leaked" over the weekend. The article is quoted in the Trams thread

SBD, the proposed infrastructure funding [$7.6b Australia wide] was signed off by Turnbull to be announced prior to the next election [but leaked by the media prior].

I'm not sure if this was to be/will be additional money to the $1.2b announced in the last budget, but there definitely was some money set aside previously.how good is he wrote:SBD, the proposed infrastructure funding [$7.6b Australia wide] was signed off by Turnbull to be announced prior to the next election [but leaked by the media prior].

Since this will finish ahead of schedule, when will work start on the Pym Street to Regency Road section?
[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
Not for at least another year. There needs to be a lot of planning work, consultation work, design work, property acquisition, tendering... actual construction will probably start in late 2019, starting with service relocation work, and major construction in 2020.1NEEDS2POST wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:37 pmSince this will finish ahead of schedule, when will work start on the Pym Street to Regency Road section?

I guess that depends on the definition of "work". There are a lot of engineers, draughters, real estate agents etc that would think they are "working" while doing that planning, consultation, design, property acquisition, tendering etc. If it is only "work" while people are playing with oversized Tonka toys, then you are right about it being over a year away.Norman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:53 pmNot for at least another year. Maybe after they finish Darlington (if the same company is chosen) the “workers” can start here.

They've known about this section for how long already?Norman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:53 pmNot for at least another year. Sure, but design work, property acquisition and all that costs money. DPTI don't do that work, most of it is outsourced. No work starts until the government allocates money to it, that's why the budget has so many business cases in it.claybro wrote:They've known about this section for how long already?Norman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:53 pmNot for at least another year. There is also supposed to be a duplication of South Road from Seaford to Sellicks Beach with construction to start in 2019. While obviously not on the scale of the rest of the North south Corridor works, it's still a significant project with $305M allocated for stage one (Seaford to Aldinga Beach Road). The project page on the DPTI website is pretty sparse with just the project overview and benefits information. Does anyone have or know any more details about this project yet? When would we be likely to start seeing more information, given construction is supposed to start in 2019 (although probably late 2019 given it's September already)?
