Heavy rain when I drove past today but looked like some roof trusses were going up.

I was on Pennington Tce and saw a big truck going through the main entrance to this gate, so I didn't bother thinking I'd be told off for going down there.
Yes, it's easy to go into the AO at the northern end - via the Clarrie Grimmett gates off Pennington Terrace. We went there on Thursday this week to have a look and take a few pics. Red seats were being installed at the Southern end.

Just walk in, Henwii. The hard hat/construction areas are clearly fenced off so it's obvious where you can walk. You can get far enough in to see all the progress and take photos.

Tip: print a colour map of the Adelaide Oval and take it with you.

It shows the dfferent sections/levels/seating in each stand, facilities and lcation of the big screens etc. It was very useful. Awesome!
Cheers!

Far out - both the Southern and Eastern stands look massive from street level. Now that's what I call a true stadium.

Great pics - what's the finish/material used on the brown cladding bit on the dining room?
Any idea?

Yep, but what's the material they've used?

Not 100% sure about this (someone pls confirm), but my understanding is that the brown cladding will be copper. They have used exceptionally high quality materials in this project.

I was hoping that was the case - same for the caged bits around the escalators.

In the picture there is quite a noticeable gap between the seating and the roof, is there going to be anything between it to stop the fans getting wet when it rains? Much like the western stand

It looks like there is some sort of glass covering up there? Or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me..

You'd have to assume it is glass up there! The rain would pour in if the rafer rails were at an incorrect angle and also, the winds would be horrendous, as that gap only looks about 25 feet tall. I'm sure it would have a funnel effect if there wasn't any glass there protecting from the elements...

Also, imagine watching a game during a storm and not only being drenched because of the gap between the stands and the roof, but also the wind chill coming through and freezing you alive? Hahaha.

As I said, I think it's relatively safe to assume they will place some glass as a windbreak in that location!

Just got back from 3 months holiday in the UK. Been out of touch.

The contrasts over this time are spectacular at AO. VERY impressive standium - most be close to 10 floors high at he back. Will be on my list to go to the cricket when I come over next.

It is appearing as a stadium with some style rather than just a seating venue.
