Traded here for a lot of years I'd say.

I think there would be a lack of suitable space in the CBD for an Aldi. They are more suburban in nature, I don't think any of the other CBDs in Australia have one.
Melbourne does.
Canberra does as well
If you have a regular Coles or Woolworths in the CBD, then you can have an Aldi as well
(and that doesn't even require going for the more compact formats you can find in some European cities)

I love the self serve express coles/woolies/independents in Melbourne (I assume they have them north of the border too) although I'm not sure if Aldi has a comparable format anywhere in Aus.
Even to see coles/woolies replace one of the convenience stores in the KWS convenience store district with an extended hours express store would be a win. Central market Coles is a shit hole and its only redeeming quality is opening at midnight/public holiday trading.

We have a convenience store district?

I don't think Aldi has different formats, it's more with regard to 'density' and how to fit the same range in half the space...

Combined Mecca Maxima/Cosmetica now open. Slowly the mini majors are coming to the CBD.
Now need Uniqlo, Zara, JD Sports and Sephora.

For what it's worth, all ground floor tenancies at the ANZ building are now empty and the area is closed.

There is no clarity on what this space will be used for...

Wonder how the new tenants in the Rundle Mall Plaza Terrace Food Court on level 1 are going. Went during lunch a few days back and just didn't seem to be that busy or have that great foot fall due to its location.

I went there on the weekend but was very underwhelmed. The cafe only had a few muffins while Bam Bam which I really wanted to try charged between $19 and $27 for some fried chicken so that was a big no. I think its poorly designed personally. We ended up going to Jamaica Blue in Myer centre which isn't amazing by any means but did offer a lot of choice at reasonable prices.
