I guess you haven't seen the plates in the UK. The font size is bigger than the car.

I think that was in answer to a request from trainspotters who have now ticked off every rail carriage in the country in their little books. The y want to now go and spot every vehicle, but the old numberplates are too hard to read as they whizz by.Edgar wrote:I guess you haven't seen the plates in the UK. wow, saw one of the new Euro plates on a new Audi...awesome!
they definitly look better than the old premium plates which i hope are banned along with those stupid personalized plates (which make it easy for cops to identify yr vehicle)
how good would it be if the Standard SA numberplate was the new Euro Plate? oh well, lucky i'm not the Premier or Transport Minister

Struth, what were they thinking? The new plates are unnecessarily long and don't even say anything good about SA!
And as for the stated reason of avoiding duplication - whoever came up with that was a complete moron! If they really haven't fixed their system to prevent the issuing of plates identical to those of vehicles on the road, anything short of failure to fix this problem immediately is gross incompetence! We must not settle for a workaround, particularly one that leaves us with number plates that are far worse than the old ones!
As for the new Euro plates, I'm at a loss to explain why Düsseldorfer thinks they're awesome - most people who've been to Europe regard things like that as mundane! And what's wrong with having personalized plates which make it easy for cops to identify your vehicle? Surely that's a good thing?
BTW the first letter of the old plates did identify which state the vehicle was from, so starting the new plates with S is no improvement whatsoever.

I know I'm bringing up this old topic but new vehicles owned by the government are carrying a similar number plate but in blue:
