But the whole point is that it's not a retail expansion but a leisure and entertainment expansion. I agree there's more than enough retail in the area but I certainly see the need for more leisure and entertainment facilities all over Adelaide.JamesXander wrote:Nort wrote:An expansion would probably draw in more people that would otherwise go to a bigger shopping center.JamesXander wrote:I for one don't really understand how this developement is going to go ahead. The centre has had empty shops in it before, and for quite some time. Demand has to be in place before a centre normally expands, especially such a big expansion like this one. I also know that the general turnover at this centre isn't that great, as the Golden Grove area is some what of a Mortage belt type area, as opposed to the deposible cash of its older Norther Suburb cousins.
I know that I often drive past Golden Grove Village on my way to Tea Tree Plaza but rarely stop there as I don't see the point when there are many more options at the center just five minutes down the road.
Well Parabanks & Tea Tree Plaza are due for upgrades. Ingle Farm and Elizabeth are also big shopping centres in the area ('beth less so)
I just don't see the logic in a large scale developement for this shopping centre.
There's virtually no street activity on suburban arterials, and nor should there be! Why would anyone want the activity to be somewhere where traffic is whizzing by at 80km/h?AtD wrote:I like the notion of some much needed density in the north, but the render does not inspire me with confidence. I dislike:
- The blank box look of the podium, no features whatsoever
- The way the building is seperated from the street
And most of all:
- The pedestrian overpass. There no shortage of existing pedestrian crossings in the area and it'll only serve to further isolate the development from the area around it. Please no! "Lets take any chance of street activity, box it up and hide it from the public"
Maybe they just decided to take the day off & fly the flag. The Scooter Guy wrote:That Australian Central Credit Union Branch will be closed today.
Is Golden Grove Village in a crisis or what?
I think you're right. It's a public holiday.Xaragmata wrote:Maybe they just decided to take the day off & fly the flag. The Scooter Guy wrote:That Australian Central Credit Union Branch will be closed today.
