As far as glass boxes go, I actually don't mind this one. Better than the other trend of having pods stick out all over the place.

It's absolute shite. Beyond dull and just completely unimaginative.
I know not every new development can be an architectural masterpiece, but for god's sake, how many more of these cookie-cutter glass boxes are they going to build?

17.
I have no evidence to back that up.

I agree with Shuz - hate pods - they look like attachments thrown on from a distance.
Have seen much worse designs although I agree that Adelaide does not get a lot of great designs. (the research centre being an outstanding and exceptional bldg).

I wasn't aware this had been officially proposed led alone approved but tenders for construction are in today's paper.

Disappointing. Another allotment that could easily allow a 20 storey tower goes begging. When this building is completed and viewed from the east along Flinders Street you won't even notice it is there. Thanks to the SANTOS building, but more so to that stupid ideal of Adelaide's CBD having to look like a bloody pyramid...all you'll see is roofs...Great!
Cheers
P.S. As for the design you couldn't expect too much. It has to blend in with its cousins to the east.

I think we're lucky to be getting an office tower at all in this economic environment.

Although not happy about the missed opportunities to build taller buildings on the right-sized allotments, I do agree with you Ben that whatever you get during hard times is most welcome. I only hope that this development will turn out to be OK since from memory the northern facade will probably be mostly bare as it flanks another property. Wouldn't want too much of that and being so prominent (unless of course someone in future builds there). What I hope to see is that other future developments in the area, like the proposed and then cancelled
ex-Planet Nightclub site at 73-79 Pirie Street go taller as those sites have enough room for 20-27 storey towers. This would give that part of the CBD a good balance of taller buildings among the 10~15 or so storey blocks. Just my thoughts.
Cheers

A builder has already been appointed. It just needs approval - which will happen within a couple of months

Fantastic looking building! Let's hope it's not dumbed down at any measure!

So did they find tenants for the rest of the building?
