[APP] 126 Wakefield Street | 61m | 18 Levels | Tribe Hotel
[APP] Re: 126 Wakefield Street | 84m | 27 Levels | Apartments
It was starting to look positive about this development when the former clothing shop closed recently but now I am not so sure...
The site is now listed for sale. http://www.realcommercial.com.au/proper ... -501772602
So was all this just a speculative concept to boost land value?

Not surprising considering the developer's opinion of Adelaide.....mgb wrote:It was starting to look positive about this development when the former clothing shop closed recently but now I am not so sure...

Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
[APP] Re: 126 Wakefield Street | ~65m | 18 Levels | Motel
It's called "Tribe". Design is pretty bland, but at least it covers the car park from the east.
Height is 61.18m
Very compact rooms!

Meh, that's just a mediocre to okay filler. Reminds me of a block of dark chocolate.
On the plus side, we don't have too many black buildings, so it has some uniqueness, and it'll help in out blocking the carpark as Norman says, so that's a positive.
Not sure how big a market this is, but since it's a motel, it could be suitable as an inexpensive place for visitors of patients in the new hospital nearby to stay.
I wonder why the renders show the old development proposed for the site in front of the carpark. The new proposal is a few metres taller than this building, so all the south western windows will have views of a wall if that one goes ahead. Also not sure where you will get those green views in the render of the room.

Actually quite like this for what it is, not much blank wall, and yes the black is a little different I suppose

I actually like this tbh. Nice simple design, which hides that hideous multi-storey carpark from the east.
Did some research and discovered that Tribe Hotel already has a property in Perth, and is planning hotels for both Melbourne and Hobart.

I agree, turned out better than expected. Simple, dark glass buildings have worked a lot better across the Adelaide cbd and generally date much better. Just not a fan of the prison bar windows though.

Site has been cleared, but it doesn't seem like they're in a rush to start construction.
