If they manage to accidentally demolish the awful student tower build next door from a couple of years ago I won’t be mad either hahaha dreams are free. Glad it’s getting washed out with this and Free Maions

Unfortunately I don’t think luxury brands will be going into this new development especially since Tiffany is leaving they will stick to burnside with Tiffany due to close on north terrace in august/September.

Frankly, I don’t think any luxury brands will be going to Burnside, they’ll try and get into this one.
Tiffany and co haven’t confirmed if they’re actually leaving North Terrace to go to Burnside btw. Sounds like they just relocating temporarily.
Burnside will probably fail

I wonder if the developers would look into giving a nod to John Martin's in the development - like calling it Johnnie's tower or something like that.
I would suggest reinstating the lift operators but that's probably going a tad too far

Tiffany have confirmed they are moving to burnside permanently with a state of the art store, don’t think they will go back into city north terrace is the worst spot.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 7:31 amFrankly, I don’t think any luxury brands will be going to Burnside, they’ll try and get into this one.

Looks fine.
But puzzled how land values are high enough to warrant demolishing an actively tenanted building here, while Commercial & General and Adelaide Development Company sit idle on the decaying Galleries and Gawler Chambers builings a few doors up.

I'd suggest it's because they already own this site.
Sure if you were a new developer looking to build a tower it might be cheaper to go get Gawler Chambers, but even the interest on a loan for that site would probably be more than the rent they earn from the space they'll temporarily lose on redeveloping the existing site they own.

Commercial & General and Adelaide Development Company are both developers who already own the unimproved sites I mentioned. Both with dormant development proposals. That is my point.Nort wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 8:46 pmI'd suggest it's because they already own this site.

The render strongly reminds me of the GPO Mariott Hotel - a gold facade in a waffle pattern. It's not the best and not the worst.

Looks like it, given the 210 shown at the front of the building in one of the renders.

My only issue with this is that ground level, which looks to be just a bog-standard office lobby with maaaaaybe a cafe space. Certainly no retail space or even a clear entrance to David Jones or the food court(s).

Looks like the address is 210 North Terrace.
Great design. Great amount of North Terrace integration. Acceptable amount of canopy coverage. What's not to like?
