There appears to be 2 new establishments: "British India" and "The Thali Room". British India appears to be a restaurant, but what about the other one? is it a bar?

Pretty sure they are both restaurants/tappas bars by day and bars by night. 99% sure they are owned by the same people who own messa next door. so assuming its a similar setup to what is going on at messa/san gria next door. Havent been so not 100% certain but will be sure to check it out this weekend or next.

Sounds great. I love Sangria, so hopefully this will give me a new place to drink in.

get rid of the cane corner please! it's horrid and a completely inappropriate place to have a furniture shop.

agreed, but the tyre/mechanic place over the road is more out of place and inappropriate. Parts of the western end of Grote and Gouger Streets look like a small country town

Curse you for bringing that shop back into my mind! Cane furniture is the work of the devil.

Did this building once have a post supported awning?

Yes its sandwiched between the Grenfell Centre and the Telstra Building. This image shows the building. Thanks to DEWHA for the image: (taken in 1984 when construction of the Telstra Building was starting)

Will, is this still the stock exchange or has it shifted? I'm out of touch with this one.

Nah, Adelaide hasn't had a stock exchange for probably close to 20 years.

Steady on, they may not be as attractive us underground but they still look better than crappy half rotting braced up timber poles, and they are uniquily SA. Lets try to be proud of them (whilst we secretly rip them out and stash the cables down were they belong).

That's debatable. I'd prefer timber poles.

I'm a fan of Stobie Poles, however I would like to see more of them put underground especially in the city, major roads and regional/suburban town centres.

The timber/concrete poles found elsewhere can look quite ugly in some cases (same with the Stobies).
