I'd just be happy to have a toilet on the train-side of the ticket barriers. used the trains after a few drinks last saturday night and while waiting forthe train to depart I realised I needed to pee pretty quickly. Luckily I had to time to scamper to the toilets near theramp up to North terrace. Seems odd and annoying that no facilities exist on the train side of the barriers. Only just made it back in time to avoid missing my train. Is there a reason that I don't know about why there cant be a toilet in that area?

Let's hope that means more night services. Hourly trains after 8pm is an absolute disgrace. And hopefully more services on weekends as well.

At some point they are going to need additional funding/frequency on the tonsley/flinders line so that the new station doesn't turn into a white elephant.

Hourly frequency will finally be abolished!. Just announced in the State Budget
The Government also committed $22 million over the next four years to increase evening, weekend and major event train services on all lines.
This includes Gawler, Outer Harbor, Seaford, Tonsley and Belair lines running to a 30-minute frequency instead of 60-minutes during weeknights.
It has also committed $15 million to build multi-level park-and-ride facilities at Tea Tree Plaza and Klemzig in the city's north.

Apparently the State budget has $462.5mil for electrification of the Gawler Line.
Is this actually
finally going to happen or did that sneaky so and so link it to Federal government coming on board to fund the rest of it?
Sneaky because people will hear the 462.5 million announcement and think its finally going to happen but in reality it
wont because our State govt cant seem to deal with the Feds at an Adult level

Stage 1 (Adelaide to Salisbury) will go ahead. Stage 2 (Salisbury to Gawler + 15 new trains) will be contingent on the Federal Government putting in half the cost.

I'll believe it when I see shovels in the ground.
In between Stage 1 and Stage 2:What happens to people who live North of Salisbury?
Do they get off at Salisbury station and transfer to diesel trains?

Yes, stage 1 is purely government funded. Tenders have been released.
The most likely scenario will be electric trains running all stations Adelaide to Salisbury and diesel trains running express from Adelaide to Salisbury and then all stations or the skipping pattern as it is now between Salisbury and Gawler.

Just received this from the National Railway Museum. Be interesting to see how much building a new train station in the Port adversely affects the museum.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS
Today the South Australian Government announced in the 2017/18 budget that rail services will be returned direct into the heart of Port Adelaide.
The Government is investing $16.4m to enable this most important Government venture to happen.
The National Railway Museum is intricate to this initiative as the required Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) developments will occur on State Govt land – licenced to NRM as part of the overall Museum Agreement.
We are working very closely and co-operatively with Senior officials at DPTI to discuss the many and varied issues that this means for the NRM.
At this stage there are many matters to deal with and once we have had further meetings we will be able to speak with the membership and give specific advice around what it means for the museum.
Both Minister Mullighan and the Rail Commissioner Mr Michael Deegan have agreed to attend a Special Meeting of the membership to enable all members to hear about this exciting project and to ask questions.
We expect that we will be in a position to have a Special Members Meeting in the next few weeks. We will advise you all of this as soon as details have been confirmed in conjunction with DPTI.
This is an exciting project for South Australia and the NRM.

I assume this means Light Rail,as the Governments plans(still current) are for the Adelink extension from the Entertainment Centre to travel to the Port(with a branch to Grange).

It has been mentioned by the Government for 2 or 3 years now and also on DTPI website.
