News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
In the start the 4000s available could run just peak hour express services, in morning it would start at Salisbury, stop at Mawson Lakes then run express to Adelaide, in the afternoon peak could run vice versa. Also could help out during events I.e footy games, soccer games, concerts and festivals.
Even when new electric trains are ordered, it'll take a whilst to receive enough to have the Gawler Central Line serviced by only electric trains. Gradually the diesels could be moved to other lines like Outer Harbour, Grange and Belair.
Eventually Outer Harbour Line should get its own train depot so trains dont have to dead run from other locations to start services from Outer Harbour in the morning. I suggest a location in Outer Harbour (former steelworks land) or somewhere around Port Adelaide area.

Good to know, but that press release is way too politicised. Just get on with it please.

Those concrete poles on approach to Elizabeth station for instance haven't been touched since they've been erected.PD2/20 wrote:News release about expressions of interest for Salisbury Electrification early works appeared on Monday http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__d ... on_EOI.pdf.

Not quite true. Recently all the poles have received track survey data plates similar to those on the Seaford and Tonsley lines. The Scooter Guy wrote:Those concrete poles on approach to Elizabeth station for instance haven't been touched since they've been erected.PD2/20 wrote:News release about expressions of interest for Salisbury Electrification early works appeared on Monday http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__d ... on_EOI.pdf.

The Christies Downs train station to get an upgrade

Have your say on Christie Downs railway station upgrade
TRAIN commuters have the chance – at a public meeting this weekend – to stamp their opinion on an upgrade of Christie Downs railway station.
It comes almost a year after residents and Onkaparinga Council representatives gathered at the station to discuss the project with Reynella state Labor MP Katrine Hildyard and Transport Department chief executive Michael Deegan.
The $500,000 upgrade would include levelling the ramp so it’s not as steep and uneven, installing new lighting and a bike cage, and painting artworks to deter graffiti.
Mrs Hildyard, who is hosting Saturday’s meeting, said the announcement was a major win for the community.
“We want to make sure that (commuters) feel safe and welcome there,” Mrs Hildyard said.
“We know that public places are safer when there’s lots of people around.”
She also wanted to establish a rail care group made up of residents and commuters dedicated to keeping a close eye on the station and report any damage.
“We’re really hoping to brighten up the station,” Mrs Hildyard said.
“For that to work well, we need to hear people’s views. What we want to do is make sure that everybody is aware ... and able to have a say in how some of these things might happen.”
She said the upgrade was expected to be completed in stages, with all work likely to finish by the end of the year.
The meeting will be held at Christie Downs Community House from noon to 2pm.

For $500,000 you could build a decent house !!!!
Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Network
I wonder if they could cover the whole station, like they did at Hallett Cove?
cheers,

Having grown up in the suburb, nothing bugs me more than it being called 'Christies Downs'. No 'S' on the end of Christie PeFe with Christie Downs.

How about fixing Torrens Park - that place is a disgrace.
Fix it, or shut it down.

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Network
I'd be open for another review of stations that exist along the Belair Line. I think it'd make perfect sense for Torrens Park and Lynton to close and Clapham reopen. Allowing greater distances between Mitcham and the next station south whilst removing two dated, precast concrete platforms in favour of a sturdy dirt filled platform. Would also make it possible for buses to be interchangeable at Springbank Road from above.OlympusAnt wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2017 9:58 pmHow about fixing Torrens Park - that place is a disgrace.

I just happened to pass though the Barossa Valley this week and noticed there are baby pine trees sprouting up between the sleepers. This is a national disgrace!!!
What a waste of infrastructure.
